I'm not watching 13 minutes of a review to find out what you think is wrong. Why not just tell people in your original post? Do you think people want to waste 13 minutes??

I'm sure he spent way more than 13 min. to make the video, if somebody doesn't want to invest 13 min. to watch it, then don't.

IMHO it was useful to do the video at all, "thank you" would suffice. ;)

If you watched the video you would see how useful it is. And the fix is simple as well. Easy to add vent holes.

Top venting is through the 510. At least on mine. When it together with a batt and addy, the floating pin is pretty much centered up/down and there is a gap between it and the insulator, allowing air to escape.

Hmm.. my pic was deleted..

Update: I have been corresponding with My Freedom Smokes for the last couple days. The customer support rep, upon seeing my picture, showed concern and said he would forward it to the guy who handles returns/exchanges. I will update further when things happen.

I went back and looked at the MFS nemesis listing on their website. They have a pic with the mod fully disassembled and you can see the notches in the threading that are supposed to be there. Another person in this thread also said he had an MFS nemesis clone and it did have the notches. I'm thinking it's pretty likely that mine was just a rare manufacturing defect.

Nonetheless, I do think it's best for everyone who buys a mech mod to know that they need to make sure it has proper venting. As we saw in the infamous Manhattan mod case, even original mods can have defects, and my case shows that occasionally you can have a defective clone even if others from the same company are designed properly.

OP, I did consider your fix, but I wanted the company I ordered it from to be aware of the problem so that they know and can check to make sure that their other clones are safe before they get shipped out. Also, as this is a manufacturing defect, it is not my problem and they should have to fix it, not me ;) it looks like they will take care of it though.

HCigar 18650 has grooves on the threads of the switch but there's like no airflow through the top of it. The air 'vents' are blocked off by solid metal.

Switch:

Top cap (completely solid, don't see any way for gas to escape)

Top vent holes, blocked off

Thanks for the warning, not using mine until I fix it.

Update (again): It seems the folks at MFS have changed their tune. Apparently they don't think venting out of the switch is necessary for a nemesis. Here is an excerpt from the email I received today:

After looking at the mod very closely, there may not be vent holes on the firing button, but there are some on the tube if you unscrew the lock ring, you’ll see one on each side.

If you still do not like the way it is constructed, you're more than welcome to send that back to us...

Since when was this ever an issue of my preference?? Either they really believe that the side vent holes are sufficient when the battery fails, or they just don't want to take responsibility for this (which is odd because they're still willing to take it back). It's dangerous to sell mods like that and they really need to take this seriously or it's going to be their fault when some poor dumb kid subohms with a cheap battery and loses his fingers  that safety feature is there for a reason!

I replied by telling them that I still do not feel safe using it, and that it is apparent by the picture on their website and by other customers who bought nemesis clones from them that mine is defective. I am also trying to get them to pay for the return shipping, since it is not my fault they sold me a defective clone and I don't think it's right for them to skirt their responsibilities by claiming it is not defective. I will see what they say tomorrow.

Word to the wise: Listen to the experts here on ECF, and pay more attention to them than to suppliers. Sellers will sometimes lie to protect their business.

There does not need to be venting at the top, only at the bottom - that way if the battery fails, the mod vents out the bottom, which will spare your face and hands (you really don't want ventholes at the top for that reason!). It looks like you have the right notches in the switch threading.

To test it, set it up like you normally would. Unscrew the top and take it off, and pull the battery out. Now put it up to your mouth to make an airtight seal, and blow into it. You should feel some air coming out from around the switch. If you don't, and you feel a lot of resistance when you try to blow into it, then it is not venting properly.

The nemesis vents through the lock ring holes like they said...

Yes but only when locked. When unlocked it should vent out the bottom switch, because the vent holes are covered then.

I posted a pic earlier in this thread (like a week or two ago) of my switch. The nemesis switch is supposed to have notches in it. Mine doesn't, so when the mod is unlocked it is completely airtight.
