I use an ego. Have for several years. Bought lot of them.
The features I like on them are the power, battery life and the 510 connection (which seems to match all the cartomizers I ever want to check out)
I also really like the passthrough versions because if if I let the battery get low, I don't have to wait until it's charged to use it again.

But lately the passthrough ports have been breaking (even on new ones).
I think it's mostly because they are mini usb, and mini usb stuff just tends to break. Whether it's the port on the cable, or more recently the battery side. They won't charge through the port. (It's not turned off, or center pin issue, it just stopped charging from the passthrough side I can use the 510 screw on charger, but I only have 1...and as I said, I like the passthrough option to use it while it charges.)

I cant find any vendors that sell ego-type passthrough with warranties. The last 2 broke within a month, and I'm hesitant to just buy more for that to happen again.

So...
1. Does anyone know of any good vendors that warranty their passthroughs?

2. Are there any ego type passthroughs that use a better connector (maybe micro usb versus the mini they typically use)

3. It sounds like the provari has a very good warranty. And it looks like they use rechargeable batteries that you can drop in (like a remote or flashlight). is that correct? i know they're a special type...but there's no wires or anything to hook when you replace the battery, right?
I'm seriously considering The provari but honestly they look so much bigger than the ego. Even the provari mini. Plus I really don't care about the variable wattage part. So it seems pricey if that's why they're so expensive

Tl/dr - Any suggestions for a durable 510 type passthrough (or one with easy drop in rechargable batteries). Or at least a vendor that offers a decent warranty?

(Sorry this is so long. Wanted to let you know where I'm coming from because I really am open to trying something new.)

Provari's warrenty is 1 year, you can pay for a 2nd year. After that, repairs are done for a set fee. Provari is made in the US, ego's are made in China.

The batteries are seperate, much like a flashlight. The full size one above with the extension cap takes an 18650 battery, which lasts over a day. 2x as long as an ego battery.

I don't know anything about passthroughs.

the provari is expensive but its worth every penny and 10 bucks gets you a battery that works most of the day flawlessly and lasts about a year.
a year from now it will still be under warranty
if you want you can buy a 2 year war.
if not,and it breaks out of war they still repair it for a small fee.
they have been run over, dunked in the pool, dishwater, coffee, the toilet, even gone through a wash cycle and still work.

they even make a passthrough cable now lol

the reg passthroughs are what they are, cheap mass produced plastic with small parts to wear out and break. no ones going to really give you a long term war on these.

lol i dont know what it is about the pics on the web, i, like many others are sure its this big honkin chunk of metal. when i opened the box the first time i went "thats it?" wheres this massive baton i see on the website lol at first i though man thats heavy and way bigger then my ego twists.
then as time has gone by i dig through a box and now think man that ego twist sure looks small and skinny now almost the way a gas station ecig compared to the ego when i bought it.
several months later and i dont even notice the provari's size anymore and has become expected, when i pick up other stuff i think man that feels so cheap and light now.

I recently just got my first Provari. I cant tell you how much of a dif it made from my ego's. I have the mini with extension cap. And its shorter then the 1000 ego but a bit thicker. Even so i love it, it feels solid and I'm not afraid it will break like a piece of glass like one of my first ego's did when i dropped it. There are a lot of different PV's out there. All very good but each PV is a personal endeavor. You need to choose what you think is best for you. I pair my Provari with IBTank's and Trippy tips. When i put them all together im so happy i cant believe i was so cheap in the beginning. I feel like i wasted a lot of money before i got it. I like them so much so im already to get another real soon. But thats because I've caught the vape bug bad and want a pv for each tank LOL. Can i afford to no but cant blame a person for wishing. Good luck on your choice. BTW Provape has a Clarence section where you can get a blem Provari for cheaper. Thats what i got but I'll be dambed if i can find a blem and most anyone else who's gotten a blem will say the same.

Mini Provari's. Last pic is of an Ego battery with a Mini Provari to show size comparison.

It doesn't get any more elementary than the following videos done by Provape, the manufacturer for the Provari:
