So, a friend of mine switched (with the eGo) for quite a few months. He was happy with it, but decided to drop from 12mg to 0mg because he felt his problem was habit and not nic addiction. It did make sense since he only smoked (about a pack) when drinking, and would go weeks (without even thinking about it) without a smoke. Switched to 0mg for about a month.

A few days ago I noticed him smoking, just a couple, he said he we celebrating and decided to have one. Next day he was still smoking (bumming, not buying) while using the ego. Last night, no ego just a pack...

I'm thinking he dropped to 0mg too fast, or maybe it's just a simple matter of all it took was to smoke one before he went back to smoking completely.

No real point in this post, just thought I'd mention something.

Everyones different, I took to vaping instantly and never looked back, not even the slightest urge for a cig since August. As a test I did make myself smoke after about 3 months into vaping. After about 3 maybe 4 puffs that's all I could stand and put it out.

I've got a friend that has been going back and forth for 3 months.

My mom tried it and hated it instantly. She starts choking at the site of a PV yet she can down 2 - 3 packs of Salems a day no problem.

I have a friend like that. He is what I call a Social Smoker. I think e-cigs may be a little too much trouble for some people that smoke occasionally. You have to make sure your batts are charged, you have e-juice, carts, cartos, what have you, etc. For us serious smokers this is no different than have spare lighters, matches just in case, extra packs stashed everywhere, and constantly checking you have everything before leaving the house. Hell, I remember worrying going anywhere with frined and not taking my car, because I had spare ciigs lighter etc.
I think if you are a social smoker you don't need any of this. You just need to bum a smoke from whoever is smoking, or you breakdown and buy a pack if you really feel like you need one. E-cigs may be a little too cumbersome, or hard to access for peeps like this. I envision a day when you can buy an e-cig just as easy as a smoke.

I bet it has something to do with him suddenly feeding the nic monster again.... Its kinda scary, im just over 6 months and think myself safe, because of it... But guess one never knows.. I never took alot of ekstra when i smoked though. Just the lighter and 1 pack.. Now i have 3 small pouches with batts, cartos and juicebottles. 2 of them are pccs... just in case.. never need it all, but what if!! cant just run to the store... so in a way i feel abit more crippled.

I vaped for 6 months and would have been very happy to never touch a cig again, but a new job, my wife getting laid off, and a few other stresses in my life and the next thing I knew, I was smoking again. I smoked for 6 months and decided that it was silly since I had e-cigs and juices laying around the house going to waste. I charged the batteries, checked the juice and I am back vaping again. I still have one or two cigs a day (only because I cannot force myself to throw away something I have already paid for), but once they are gone, I will be back to vaping only. Sometimes we need to fail a couple of times to really make the commitment. I am able to vape in my most stressful situation now (work) and I do not even think about smoking while I am here. Don't look at your friend as a failure. Just look at it as a minor set back. Down the road, he may realize that what he is doing is hurting him and he will be back to vaping. As long as he does not throw away his equipment, there is hope he will come back.

I was a social smoker, vaping has spoiled me to the point I can't stand real cigs anymore. My wife had me hold a camel for her while she looked through her purse for something a couple days ago, I tried to take a puff off of it and almost puked.

To be honest, I vape way more than I used to smoke, but I get a nic buzz off of 10 mg juice. 6 is about right for me. Keeps me from going crazy when I see people lighting up, and that's all I really wanted when I started.

There are a lot of people I know who try e-cigs but give up because of the smallest hiccup, the battery didn't last long enough or a cartomizer leaked a little, ect. It sucks seeing people fail because of such little things, especially when I get sooooo much out of vaping myself and I know how good it can be when you just put a little effort into it and find your "Sweet spot".

Your story reminds me of a convo between the hubby and me the other day. (he wants to work his way off the pv also). I told him if he does he needs to keep the pv... you know how we smokers are we quit sometimes even for a long time then something traumatic happens or maybe even not so traumatic and we light up...BAM back to smoking. I'm thinking keeping a pv and some juice on hand would be a good idea even if he quits vaping. I don't know that I want to quit vapng... and thankfully he's ok with that.

Maybe it's not a failure... more of a setback. Everyone comes at this from their own, unique, perspective. If the guy only smoked once in a while, every few weeks (don't know how the heck he did that!), he may come at this differently. Still, even for that low amount of tobacco use, he should still switch. Maybe he will in time. Anyway, it's up to him. You can lead a horse to water.........

Hey Val....it is so hard to keep quiet about it too isn't it ! My DH....has quit cigs cold turkey for like 5 years at a time and goes back to them. This past year he hasn't been able to walk away from them and is really struggling. I make sure to keep all my e-stuff readily at hand without "harping" on him. I keep the GLV on the coffee table with fresh batteries.....he uses it ,....but still goes through about a pack a day....it is hard to be patient sometimes.

(don't ya just wanna scream and yell..."dude" !!!!!!)
