Democrat US Reps Henry Waxman, Frank Pallone and Diana DeGette falsely accuse e-cig companies of target marketing to youth (without providing any evidence), deceitfully portray e-cig marketing same as cigarette marketing decades ago in letter urging FDA Commissioner Hamburg to impose counterproductive deeming and other regs on e-cigs (that will protect cigarettes, and give the e-cig industry to Big tobacco)

Liberal Democrat Reps. Waxman, Pallone and DeGette, as well as liberal Democrat Senators Durbin, Blumenthal, Harkin, Brown, Merkley aren't getting paid to propose regulations and legislation to protect cigarettes from market competition by far less hazardous smokefree e-cigs.

Rather, these liberal Democrats are very close allies (on tobacco policy issues) of Obama appointees at FDA and CDC, and of drug industry funded CTFK, ACS, AHA, ALA.

"We believe FDA action is essential to ensure that e-cigarette makers stop targeting the nation’s youth. We recognize that there is a debate about the value of e-cigarettes as an alternative for addicted adults. But whatever the merits for adult smokers, these addictive products should not be used by teenagers. The companies’ practices show that they are not capable of self-regulation. FDA must act now to protect children from their unscrupulous marketing campaigns."

Teenagers will figure out how to get ahold of stuff they aren't allowed to have, regardless of the ban on them. How well is their regulation on cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs working? Barely at all. But so politicians can represent themselves as high and mighty, caring about the children with ineffective legislation, they don't mind denying people the right to use a safer alternative to tobacco products which will reduce or eliminate their chances for getting tobacco-caused illnesses like cancer. This is all for show. The sheeple that believe this grandstanding hogwash are the ones that need to be educated about e-cigarettes and vaping. Will the industry organize and form a group that will enact a mass public education campaign? Or will they let the politicians hand the industry over to the big, deep-pocket tobacco companies, and a handful of e-cig companies? 100 years from now people will look back at our country, laws and government and think how crude, just as we do today about our past.

Bah. Waxman has been an ANTZ from the word "go". He goes way way back (1975). He's doing the "guilt by association" thing with e-cigs as well as adding a new target to revitalize his anti-smoking agenda. Gets him more camera/news time. And the people in CA keep electing him.

(All, IMHO)

Back in the 1990's, I assisted Waxman in exposing cigarette industry lies and their target marketing to youth.

But during the past decade, Waxman has repeated CTFK's lies and has sponsored whatever legislation CTFK urges him to sponsor.

Please note that former FDA Deputy Commissioner Josh Sharfstein (who championed the FDA's unlawful ban on e-cigs in 2009) was a former Waxman staffer (from 2004-2007) who lobbied other members of Congress to enact the TCA.

I have known Bill for five years. (Not in the Biblical sense:)

It's hard to pretend ideology isn't involved and ignore the big pink elephant in the room. Bill is trying to tell you something.

I hate drama even though I have a black belt in Hu Flung Poo.

The idea that big corporate donors are in the pocket of the evil Limited government Republicans and libertarians is laughable.

If you were a big corporate entity would you support somebody who left you alone? Sure. Or even better support somebody who will knee cap Your competition with regulations like Tonya Harding?

Blockbuster announced today that they are closing all of their brick-and-mortar stores.

Human ingenuity and digital streaming videos like Netflix has made them obsolete.

What if Blockbuster could have used political power to squash the new technologies?

That is exactly what big Pharma, big tobacco and big government are trying to do to E-cigarettes.
