Can anyone point me to a link so I can find out what this film was about and what its goals were?

If vapers are still interested in getting a film made that puts vaping in the positive light it deserves, that's something my company, Survivor Films might be interested in. We're based in the UK though so I'd need to work with a producer (one of you guys?) in the US in order to organize it properly and make sure we get to speak to the right people.

Ideally I'd like to see something that:

Explains what vaping is, it's origins and the differences being smoking and vaping (including health benefits as we know them)
Refutes some of the old, bogus studies and promotes the work of CASAA, Drexel, and Dr. K
Looks at the vaping community and businesses
Tells some personal stories of how vaping has changed people's lives
Shows what the opposition is (BT/BP/Govt taxation) without jumping to conclusions allowing the viewer to make their own mind up.

Their website appears to be suspended.
I think we deserve some answers.

And that's me being nice... for now.

Well alrighty then. Let's throw this up in the wayback machine and see what we get.

We Are Vapers | An Exploration into the World of Harm Reduction | We Are Vapers Click!

Ok, the last capture of the web site when it was still active was late January 2014. It sez:

Update:

January 25th 2014

I would like to thank everyone that has supported this project! The process of making this documentary has been great and challenging.

I have now reviewed all of the footage that was originally shot (about 400 hours). There is lots of footage of vapers stories and some great interviews with Doctors and Scientists. The original intent of the documentary was to tell the stories of vapers to the world. If you search the internet and youtube these stories are all over the place. After lots of thought the footage we have lacks tension or other compelling / unifing thread. I have decided to add some elements to the movie that I will need to go out an film. I am working on adding footage that will tell the American story….. how this industry has transformed the lives of people not only by quitting smoking but also by creating jobs. For the tension element we will film the reactions of people and vendors to the deeming regulations when they are released.

Sincerely
Linc Williams
Director

At this pace I think a 2017 release date is not out of the question.

So, what happened? Probably the more telling update - from nearly a year ago at this point - is on the indie funding site. And that would be here: We Are Vapers | Indiegogo Click!

As many of you know this project is all volunteer. What many may not know is that I recently switched contracts at my full time employment and being new on this contract I do not have the same flexibility in leave that I had before. Added to this my daughter has had major surgeries and will have several more during the course of the next 2 years. I cannot predict the impact on my time that the surgeries will have.

Okeh...

If you read the rest of that comment at the site - I wasn't about to quote the whole damned thing here - his theoretical time line was 12 months to edit after final shooting was done. Final shooting wasn't completed until... oh wait - according to the January 25th 2014 update he's not done filming.

Is the vintage footage going to be obsolete and irrelevant by the time it hits editing? Janty stick anyone?

Did that manage to make DC feel any nicer? Probably not.

This the same guy? Anyone know?

https://twitter.com/Baldgroove
Yes, that's the guy.

He also holds the following positions in AEMSA...
--Board Secretary
--Chair of Compliance Committee

That is why I find it hard to imagine him just blowing off the whole We Are Vapers thing.

But it is equally hard for me to imagine the We Are Vapers website disappearing.
And that certainly appears to be the case.

Maybe everyone hopes it will just fade away.

Nice con actually. Shill for thousands of $$$, "film", then tell folks, it will take a year to edit, by that time most will have completely forgotten about it, those that still remember, you just say "uh still editing".

What a joke. To me, this makes AEMSA a joke, as well as any vendor touting that garbage. How much more money is this guy gonna steal from other vapers?

I never forgot. This film should be playing in my shop by now. But since its not maybe I can just wish my $150 donation back. Would rather have my darn DVD though. I would like to say more but I wont : (
I hear you.

This guy has subsequently become a part of Vape Team.
And then become a part of AEMSA.

I still want my DVD, no matter how much activism he involves himself with.
In fact, I really hoped the documentary would come out LONG before the FDA regulation proposal.

We are WAY past that now though.

The thing that annoys me the most is the connection with AEMSA...we're supposed to trust the AEMSA seal of approval, and the fees that lead to it, when one of their board members hasn't followed through with obligations that he was paid to do?

(Queries on the 'we are vapers' facebook page also go unanswered)

He owes us all an explanation, especially those of us who contributed money, as I did.
Here is the latest update...
