I am getting really frustrated here! I can only get decent vapor and throat hit like 10% of the time with my 510...

My dad ordered one because he saw mine and he wants to quit too. He got it last Friday and I was able to try his today and OMG, HUGE throat hit and CLOUDS of vapor... That really ...... me off as I have to drag for like 6 seconds to get just a little vapor and a slight resemblance of throat hit...

My atty cant be dead, its only been 8 days.... plus, mine NEVER vaped like my dad's....

I dont know whats wrong, but all I do is tinker with this thing ALL DAY... analogs are much easier than this...

Any help would be awesome. Im so close to goin to the gas station and gettin a pack of camels

Well Ive done them ALL. Fluval, standard cart, dripping....

I get "decent" vapor and TH like 10-20% of the time. The rest of the time its tinkering and cleaning, and blowing, and refilling, and man its a PITA.....

Jim, it sounds like you're the unfortunate soul who STARTS OUT with a bad atty (or battery) as was posted previously in this thread. The advice expressed to determine whether it's your batt or atty by checking it against your Dad's is sound. A fresh battery and properly working atty WILL give you WAY more vapor than any analog you ever smoked.

It's unfortunate, but it sounds like your starting point is with bad equipment. Keep in mind, this forum is enormous and most of us are extremely happy with vaping. Those numbers should imply that *something* is wrong with your unit or your methods. Hang in there and good luck.

I have noticed that some 510 attys that I have gotten recently are higher resistance than they should be. It could be that your dad got attys that are the correct resistance for a 510 (2.5ohm), and you got one of the higher ohm attys (3.2-3.5ohm). The few that I have that are the higher ohm hit like crap. Not sure if you're a 'meter person', but if so, that is something you could check.

It also has a lot to do with the juice being used. If he is using VG and you have PG, he is going to blow bigger clouds. (but you should be getting better throat hit)

Also, if an atty is not cold, it is not dead. Just needs cleaned.

I think that (the bolded part) is your problem. I know it's mine! From day one I was messing with my 510, pulling the filler out, adding the straws, mixing up juice, doing this, doing that...and the performance got pretty crappy. Now most of the time I have to shake the stick from the battery/LED end because it seems like the juice is constantly seeping therough my attys and pooling in the bottom.

Wash out your attys, wash out your carts and fillers, start fresh.

I have another atty here that came with my kit, but its the only one I have left. Should I try that one??

Pisses me off that I got bad equipment, I paid 60 bucks for this starter kit too....

So what should I do now, its for sure bad equipment??

I dont have my Dad's around here to test so thats kind of out of the question. What a GREAT experience it was to use my dads PV, that is what its supposed to be like huh?

Should I pop on the new atty? that means I'll have to order more today...something I didnt want to do just yet

Jim

Edit: we were using the exact same juice... both PG

If you don't have your father's 510 near so you can test it out, then I would certainly put on a new atty and test that. If you get the same results then it has to be the battery. Sometimes we just get equipment that is a fail from the start and unfortunately, it is even more frustrating when you are just starting out. Good Luck!

My thinking is...never toss an atty that isn't cold. Cold=dead, warm with no vapor=dirty/flooded. So before you toss it. Try this...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-my-atty-resurrection-method.html#post1032570
(or any of the other methods that can be found on the forum).

You mentioned that it sounds flooded all the time? If it sounds flooded, it probably is. In the process of the method I linked above you will get it to a point of 'bone dry'. That in itself is probably going to help your situation.

Also, when you blow it out, are you blowing from the battery side of the atty? You have to blow very hard and for several seconds to get all the drops of liquid out. You should get a few drops depending on the atty model. I get 3-4 drops out of a flooded 510. I have gotten up to 15 drops out of a flooded 801, and had to blow for about 45 seconds to get that.

Havent busted out the new atty yet.... Dont wanna ruin my last one ya know.... If its my fault here, I dont wanna be atty less for like a week!

I will throw it on in a bit though to see what happens.

The atty is definitely not cold, actually its very very hot after only a few drags....

I blew the crap out of it again, I have blown both sides, first the cart side, then the batt side just to make sure....

we'll see how that goes... Should 2 drops really flood the atty? Ive started dripping now just to get to the bottom of this... Carts ALWAYS flood my atty for some reason....

When should you redrip? I notice I can get vapor but no flavor, do i redrip then or wait till there is no vapor either?

Thanks!

Jim

You need to get a few more atty's.

It's very hard (for me anyway) to pop an atty with a stock battery as long as it's primed.

I would not be too worried about only having one (for the moment), what I would do tonight is boil the one that is 8 days old for about 10 min. Blow it out and let it dry over night.
Drip with it in the morning and see how that goes.

Not trying to get ahead of the situation now...............sorry just wanted to type that in there.
