bogeyjim, if you want the absolute cheapest solution for your 'at home' vaping, pick up a passthrough with inline batt. You can use it while at your computer for consistent vaping, and with the inline batt you can also unplug from the usb and get several hours on the go. (in the car, on the couch, etc.). You can get one for $15 shipped from RockyMountainVapor.

It's definitely not as 'good' as getting a commercial mod (or building your own), but it is still a step up from those stock batts for very little money.

Just my .02

order some more attys.. you will end up needing them..

you will notice that different attys you have need different things done to them to make them work the way you want.. and start up does cost a bit but after a month or 2 you start saving because you figure out how to fill the carts without wasting the fluids.. and keeping the attys from dieing.. i still have my first atty.. works like new ones..

Well Ive done them ALL. Fluval, standard cart, dripping....

I get "decent" vapor and TH like 10-20% of the time. The rest of the time its tinkering and cleaning, and blowing, and refilling, and man its a PITA.....

I had the same problem. I found out that a lot of genuine Joye 510 atty's are bad. You should buy from Totally Wicked or another place that does not sell genuine joye atty's. I gave up on my 510 after buying several more atty's and still had nothing but bad taste and minimal vapor. I just bought a Vapor King and received it today. It's got great flavor. So far not so much vapor but it's still warming up from being out in the cold for so long.

Good luck to you.

I gotta disagree with several of those points..first TW gets their atties from Joye they are joye atties (also I don't buy from TW for personal reasons, I kinda shudder when anyone jumps to suggest them, expecially in the same post they say they gave up on the 510 and changed to a product that TW doesn't carry)...second, I'm not sure about the statement that there are a lot of joye atties that are bad, it 3 months between my fiance and I we have a dozen atties and not a single one is or has gone bad, all of them joye atties (from nhaler, janty, cignot, and vapor station)..I think alot of it is new user issues (I don't want to even say error)...thicker darker juices like coffee flavors, tobaccos (anything that has alot of particulates in it) and VG can and will clog an atty faster..flooding and overflooding, and excessive tinkering will affect it's performance too..I believe that dripping versus using carts too will affect overall atty longevity as well just as variance in bottles and drop size walks a fine line between keeping an atty just wet enough and flooding..
As far as the KR8 model (the VK) and the vapor output...WYSIWYG..it's just not going to crank out the vapor that the 510 does..I find the flavor, meh..the nice thing about the KR8 (and please don't take this wrong) it kinda idiot proofs the whole PV learning experience..

Hang in there! There is a learning curve and sometimes frustration, but once you understand what to look/feel/taste/listen for it gets easier and easier.

510 was my first purchase, and not quite a week into vaping I have made adjustments, the way I fill..etc. Carts to me are great at first, but after 4-5 vapes they just don't taste good, it's not metalic, it's always semi-burnt, but I know it's because I vape faster than the Poly-fill can wick the e-liquid from the cart.

Slow down? Hard to do, lol! So on day three I made a Mesh Tulle Mod which is awesome flavor and vape on the spot, but on the go when it's just sitting in my pocket, or at work, coming back to it isn't "as" good, it's tasty for a dozen pulls, maybe, then it just kinda dies, but if you fill it and use it immediately it's great.

Day 4 I wanted more, lol! So I built an auto drip mod, was good, but again a wicking issue with the style I made

Day 4 round two. I decided to build the Zero Fill Mod. OMG! it's as good as the PTB and MTM(Mesh TUlle Mod) , the difference is it's great at home and on the go. Good TH, good vapor, good flavor, and the cart basically runs dry. :thumb:

I thought I was going to have those same 510 woes, but with all the reading and tinkering, my 510 remains my first purchase and first love :D

Right on, thanks for the advice and input. I put this new atty in and this thing is vaping like a beast! Im in love with the 510 again!

I guess 10 days is pretty sad for an atty, but its not completely dead, maybe I can revive it, I dunno...

But I do know I need to order some more parts before this atty dies! Lots of vapor is back!

TW has ridiculously high prices. Also, they advertise their Titan PV to be a genuine Joye product. Why would the corresponding atties not be? Im not trying to flame here, I just think that if one is looking for 'clone' 510 atties, TW is one of the last resort sources for many reasons.

Again...are you vaping dark liquids? tobbaccos? these seem to have alot of particulates in em and will clog up quicker..if so you might have to clean your atty more frequently..that being said I pretty much chain vape and don't really clean them per se..if vapor production drops off on an atty for me I switch juice and vape a "cleaner" absolutely clear juice through it for a while and it picks right back up..but for cleaning, I mean really cleaning an atty I'd suggest taking a look at highping's cleaning an atty thread (he posted a response to your thread here earlier, so you can find him and search his posts)

EDIT: on the upside for you as far as the discussion had turned to TW stuff..supposedly soon the TW vapor lounge and store will be open down there in FL...so if worst gets to worst you could always pick up something in an emergency

The kr8 is idiot proof,But after doing all the 3 piece and mods that your using now,Its an easy way to get great flavor and TH on the go.I cant carry mods to childrens soccer games, other parents wont understand why Im sucking on a hunk of pipe.Just a heads up that everyone is different,we should all do what makes us happy.

This a good thread because it basically illustrates the learning curve that sometimes has to be gone through.
The conculsion I think is stick with it and keep asking questions and you should find your way thru to vaping happiness (even if you switch models to something you find easier to deal with, kinda like switching ciggie brands if you think about it)
I've been pretty lucky with my 510s (genuine Joyes from Cignot). They perform well and consistently - whats not so consistent has been ME lol
I decided fairly early on to go to direct drip even though it can be a faff re-dripping a lot of time I get more juice this way, and better vapor/flavor/TH, and as I dont spend tons of time outside it's works well for me. I also lean heavily on my PT and that vapes at a higher temp (my poor lil attys get so hot, I have to conciously stop vaping to let em cool off lol). I can vape thru a manual (non PT) battery inside of 20 mins lol. I didn't have much luck (yet!) with finding a cart filler that can keep up with my vaping speed. The ZFM looks great but I am as about exact with an exacto knife as a 3 handed monkey with DTs :D
I'm still going to try fillers/cart mods, because soemtimes you want a cart full of juice, but until then I'll keep direct dripping :)
Happy vaping (however you do it)

Nope everyone went through it in some form or another.

Thanks Jay, so this learning curve shows Im not alone I guess? Have u guys thought your atty's were shot only to realize its user error? I mean earlier today, I was ...........

But now its vaping like crazy. I still dont get it.. :)

Hope performance stays strong on this thing!

Keyzygirl..I didn't mean anything bad really..just that yeah it idiot proofs learning a PV..I dunno, the vast majority of flavor and lack vapor and TH on a KR8 wasn't for me (granted I've had better experience using blanks and juice from other vendors on the KR8)..it's all about what works for us individually to ditch the analogs..
As for can't taking things to soccer games and other parent's perceptions..that's a personal thing and has to do with YOUR comfort level and not the device itself..
It's a conundrum...the KR8 wouldn't have gotten me off or kept me off analogs..it just doesn't deliver for me in the categories I find most important, but it's easy...the 510 does but I researched the crap out of things and learned alot...but your standard everyday newbie, if they don't learn it they're gonna be faced with failures with it..
Either way I'm not going to beat the dead horse of 510 vs KR8 here with you..the thread was about the OP having issues with his 510 and what he might be doing wrong.. I was commenting on some gross inaccuracies and misinformation and the give up and just get a VK doesn't help him with what he asked..

Think of it this way, when you took that first puff off an analog you coughed you brains out, but that did not stop you from taking another. ( I bet all of us wished it did :) ) You have to get used to it and how it works. Also remember that it is electronic, it is not always burning like an analog. It does work different then an analog. I know we live in a world that we have gotten use to wanting everything to work how we want it to instead of learning how and why something works. But once you get use to it, it does work just like you want it to.

I am glad you still giving it a go!! And glad you did use you other atty. Also remember that anything that is electronic could fail, but the price is still cheaper then a pack or more of analogs a day. For your wallet and your health!!!

Good Luck and keep us informed. :)
