Yup. Cleaning the brass switch contacts and the end cap threading makes a huge difference. :thumb:

Yup.. so much i did a before and after test with my load test setup. With a fresh bat runing at 4.24v and a 510 atty i was getting around 3.5v under load. After doing the massive cleaning it showed 3.90v under load!

Hell, i bet it will be even higher with the mechanical switch on there.

what are you guys using to clean it. Just Brass Cleaner? Brand? Alcohol? What is the best way to clean it?

Some use Brasso or something similar on the brass switch contacts. Actually a pencil eraser will do a very good job. Keep rubbing the black stuff off the eraser (I just rub it off onto a towel or my jeans) and keep going until they contacts are nice and shiny.

I use alcohol to clean the end cap, the inner threads, and the adapter threads. Then put a very light coat of Noalox on the threads and work it in.

Thanks to this thread I'm a happy vaper again. My Protege was losing performance & the swaps didn't help.. (batt/atty). Dismantled it... easily... (knew to keep the spring from flying).... just wiped w/ a cloth... for now. Couldn't find my silver polishing cloth. Gotta get some nolox.. but WOW what a surprise... the difference in just doing a half-way job so far. Good as new already. Thanks!!!! This little baby is awesome again

where to get noalox?
kind of expensive.

you want to sell me a very small bottle of it?

is that safe to use on threads?

EDIT:
so just polish with brasso with toothbrush. (I just bought some)
use isopropyl alchohol on threads..... maybe use a Q tip?
wash with water to get the crap off.

thats all I got so far. that work?

I'm going to give it the cleaning soon! hope i see good results!
You don't want to inhale that if its on the ends of ur threads.

im sure most people know this... but just in case.

i used to be an eraser only guy when cleaning my protege.... until i bought the brasso everyone here is always talking about. for me this does a MUCH better job than the eraser.

it's wonderful stuff!

yep, i use noalox on threads and brasso on contacts.

a must for pv owners.
