is this true only when the delivery method is the traditional tobacco cigarette? i could understand the statement when it relates to cigarettes since they contain allot of carbon monoxide. i do not believe that nicotine itself decreases oxygen at all. the statement reads:

The nicotine present in smoke causes heart disease by:

  • Decreasing oxygen to the heart.
  • Increasing blood pressure and heart rate.
  • Increasing blood clotting.
  • Damaging to cells that line coronary arteries and other blood vessels.
how many of these symptoms still exist even when the delivery method is changed to vapping from smoking?

My last physical (done two months after I quit smoking and switched to vaping) showed:

-Drastically lower triglyceride levels (205 to 117)
-Increased oxygenation (99% - up 5% from when I smoked) in my blood
-Elevated HDL cholesterol (the good stuff)
-Same level of LDL cholesterol (the bad stuff), so my HDL/LDL ratio is right at normal

I've made no other changes in lifestyle or diet, the only change was going from smoking cigs to vaping.

well im not willing to except that. they dont like it tough. i have a hard enough time functioning with nicotine. i enjoy nicotine. i dont find anything wrong with that.

There isn't anything wrong with enjoying nicotine.
The ANTZ and Johnson & Johnson companies want you to believe that enjoying vaping or snus is somehow sinful.
They not only want you to do as they say but they want to keep you from enjoying
what you do also.
They want you to feel guilty for something that isn't harming anyone as far as we know.
It's not really about smoking control actually but wanting to control your choices of lifestyle, principles and morals which they think they are somehow qualified to do!
*Since they can't do that they will have your representatives
make laws to force you if we let them.
Pfffftttt and phooey on that!

* Sorry for the little rant!

I know the second item is true, but my parents did more to my blood pressure than nic - high blood pressure runs in my family. Not getting enough exercise also does me in. :)

I'm sure for some people those statements might be true for some.
For me who has had open heart surgery, is minus a lobe of my lung, has serious vascular issues
and who had COPD and other breathing problems this has been a total non-issue.
My BP typically is low and that hasn't changed at all, the cardiac surgeon I saw last when asked if vaping could have any ill effects on me stated "None that he could see" and my primary care physician is thrilled I'm vaping and not smoking so I don't really care about what "WEBmd" or their cronies are espousing. :glare:
It isn't any different than the stuff the ANTZ say to scare people into quitting cold turkey.

You've been through a lot! Good to see you're ok. My doc just gave me her blessing too, said I was "on the right path".

My opinion: After all of the research I've done, my conclusion is that nicotine is fine in moderation. Its about the same as caffeine (in regards to side effects).

There are very few thing in this world that are completely healthy to ingest. I think the pleasure vaping nicotine brings us outweighs the negatives.

Well, this WebMD tell me this:

Nicotine Patches, Gum, and Inhalers for Quitting Smoking

Nicotine replacement therapy is safe when used properly. Nicotine by itself is not nearly as harmful as smoking. Tars, carbon monoxide, and other toxic chemicals in tobacco cause harmful effects, not the nicotine.

and this:

Nicotine replacement therapy has been shown to be safe in most people with heart disease.

and this:

Long-term use of nicotine gum has not been found to be harmful.

So, I'm not so worried about the nicotine, particularly when the nicotine inhalers are recommended for up to 6 months and even up to 12 months, at 10mg per cartridge, and they say you'll need 6-12 cartridges for starters to get through a day (since you don't absorb nearly as much as through smoking).

Nicorette Inhaler

So, see a doctor if you're concerned. See a doctor if you have heart disease, poor circulation, are pregnant, etc.

As for me, since I wasn't worried about the nicotine in my cigarettes, I'm not so worried about the nicotine in my e-cigarettes.

A man I know has been using nic gum for many many years .. 16 years I believe .. he is in his 80's and ownes his own company, still goes to work every day with no big health issues ..

I am convinced that the amount of nic you get in the average e-cig is much less than what's in an analog .. that said, nic does constrict your circulation ..
