I know next to nothing about building or rebuilding, but reading your post, it really doesn't seem to make any sense that you would have trouble. Are you having 'one of those days' perhaps? Nice to see you, no matter what.

I would chalk it up to a bad day, but its been going on for some time. I got the first AGA at the beginning of June!

They are like the vaping version of Sudoku! I just can't solve them!

Good to see you as well!!

I've got an M5 from FT for dripping/testing, but haven't rebuilt it yet because it doesn't need it. I also don't have any wire yet. In the past week, I have torn-down and rebuilt some protank/evod heads. I'm guessing the bottom rubber sleeve is causing my issues Taking the coil and wicks out of PT head and putting it in my old Evod head work - no more funk. Getting those pre-cut coil legs back correctly is a pain.

Well, there's my 5...think I'll crash early tonight - full day of teaching and football in the evening tomorrow. Good night, VVV peoples!

so...
I was looking at teh VVV economy tanks, and I have to say they look nice... I am a bit of a noob at this though, so please bear with what may seem like a simple question. I've only used a Protank so far, and the atomizers are fairly easy to change out.

The carto's I haven't quite figured out yet. How long do these last, and when you purchase replacement carto's to go into the tank, about what kind of price am I looking at for each one? Also... are there any carto's that are rebuildable?

Ekowool tends to fray easily when it's cut. I found it easier to cut it after it was over the SS mesh and the coil was wrapped.

4) Do you torch the Ekowool before putting the mesh in? A thorough torching stiffens up the fibers and greatly cuts down on fraying.

If you can afford it, having metal end caps instead of grommets on a VVV is nice but not necessary. The grommets hold on much tighter but make changing cartomizers a little harder. That shouldn't matter much since putting in a new cartomizer is a good time to clean the tank anyways.

The life of a cartomizer varies for some folks, mostly due to the type of e-liquid. This goes for any atomizer though. I can easily go through 15ml before the carto stops working well, as long as the e-liquid isn't too dark. The price of cartomizers can vary a bit from one vendor to another (~$1 to $1.50 each), usually cheaper if you punch your own holes (there's a tool for that). There are rebuildable tank cartos (The Diver, Killer 705, Killer clone), but they are just not the same. They are probably the hardest NR-R-NR coils to make due to the size, and are pretty expensive (except for the Killer clone). Start with some regular cartomizers and give them a try first. Even PBusardo, who can afford to try just about anything still uses cartotanks sometimes. Just be sure to get Boge cartomizers, at least at first. :2c:

Absolutely! It's the 2mm that frays since it's a little too small to start with. 3mm works great but it makes the coil really fat and I've had trouble with the coil hitting the cap. That was only once in an AGA-T, but in AGT I had to use xS-116 since the cap is so small. Whatever the sleeve is, 1/4" length of hollow silica wick will want to fray if messed with much. JMO, YMMV

Edit: That Richman's RBA looks great and all, and the wider nuts for the positive post seem like a great idea, but... less room for a wide coil around sleeving without a short. I tried to say that without it sounding dirty but there was no other way to make the point. Apologies.

I've been lovin' my AGA-T2. My one issue is when I leave juice I it overnight, it's just nazzzty in the morning. Why?

My 4ml Pyrex sidewinder doesn't look bad on a vamo.... a li'l top-heavy, but I like it!

Thanks for the feedback on the cartomizer stuff Schnarph... I've heard that the carto's are liked better by some people and have wanted to try... my first purchase in vaping equipment was a vamo 2 and a protank, so that's all i've had exposure to. I've looked at some of the RBA's, especially the Genesis type atty's and I would like to try them, but for how much trouble they seem to be to keep tuned in, I don't think they will work for me.

I have no fear of the winding of coils or anything like that... i've worked in the electronics field for about 17 years now. I want a no fuss setup that can get me vaping fairly quickly.
