Dani, if you need any assistance in removing malware/spyware/adware/etc. shoot me a PM. :)

Oh man, I wish I would have stayed around long enough to see this. I had one heck of a virus and have no idea how I got it. I don't visit shady sites at all. I ended up doing a factory install. Had to reinstall Microsoft and everything. I just don't know anyone good with computers. Thank you for offering, that was extremely sweet of you. Thank you.

i'm also good with computery crap so.
yeah. anyone can hit me up.

Thank you, SpaceCase, I'll hit you up next time I have an issue.

I love us. For real. You guys are the best.

Adblock Plus is a great browser add-on, it removes adds from websites. Makes for quicker load times and faster browsing .

https://adblockplus.org/

Just to add, this won't remove adware/spyware/malware, it's just a tool to make browsing faster by removing adds from sites, some of which can be resource heavy with flash etc.

I sit beside some helpdesk people on the weekends at my job. Soooooooooo funny.
"Ma'am, is your computer plugged in? Yes ma'am, it needs to be plugged in to operate."
One time this lady had a virus on her computer in the living room so she unplugged all of her other electronics because she was sure it would travel through the electrical wiring and infect everything else.

When I call tech help lines and they ask me what the problem is I start everything by listing what I have done up till the point I call them and finish with, "And yes, my computer is plugged in and my monitor too and my monitor is even turned on..." and the last person who helped me died laughing and said I'd ruined her best help suggestions.

Yess... I cant browse the internet without this....

Then for protection:
-AVG Antivirus and Spybot Search and Destroy installed.

If something else comes up, get 'Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware'....

What is lovely is when you tell them everything you have done to troubleshoot and they proceed to go through the list one at a time asking if you have done the things you already told them you did. Just to get to the same conclusion you told them in the beginning.

Had one guy like that, it was maddening. I told him all I needed him to do was ping my modem so it would reset on their end. He had no idea what I was talking about so finally got him to hand me to his supervisor who listened to me for a moment then said, "I think we just need to ping your modem" and when I told her that was what I told the guy who was helping me she said, "Oh, but we're women, what do we know?" That was a fun call eventually, we had a good laugh at his expense.
