Adblock Plus is a great browser add-on, it removes adds from websites. Makes for quicker load times and faster browsing .

Just to add, this won't remove adware/spyware/malware, it's just a tool to make browsing faster by removing adds from sites, some of which can be resource heavy with flash etc.

There's some great free stuff available!
I've had Kaspersky for years (Their UK support is top class) it has ad and pop-up blockers built in, but I also have the free Malwarebytes for an extra scan capability, and the free Superantispyware that will do all levels of scan including a fast one that will find all the tracking cookies that can slow things down, and I can scan for and eliminate those every night in a matter of seconds.

Pain you had to do a reinstall, but glad you got it sorted!

What is lovely is when you tell them everything you have done to troubleshoot and they proceed to go through the list one at a time asking if you have done the things you already told them you did. Just to get to the same conclusion you told them in the beginning.

Customers shouldn't be treated like one, either. If I tell them I am an I.T. professional and list out the steps I have taken to troubleshoot, that should suffice to cover their self on the recorded call.
