Weird issue with Vamo and BCCs in VW mode

Hi. My name is Mitch. New to the site.

I looked around a bit for any threads about this issue and didn't find anything. Perhaps my search-fu is lacking.

I have a protank, some evods, and a Bottom Coil Glassomizer which apparently has no name.

Recently the Evods and the BCG have started burning up in wattage mode on my Vamo V2. I can go all the way down to 6w and still get a burning flavor. Initially I was staying between 8-10w on all of my devices.

Have changed out heads and getting same issue. This BCG is one of my favorite vapes so it has been pretty frustrating.

Over the weekend, I remembered that my Vamo has VV also so I switched the mode. No burning! vaping a 3.2 ohm coil right now at 4.5v and it is all beautiful.

This is not really a problem, since VV is fine with me, just weird that it happened all of a sudden after using the VW mode for a couple of months.

Is this an issue with my vamo, the clearomizer, or just pebmac?

Thanks for any input.

And - it's not your search-fu, it's this site's search function is kind of lame.
If you GOOGLE what you're looking for, it'll 90% of the time take you back here for your answer, though!
I googled "vamo variable watt burning" and found this thread, which may be the same problem, and points out to check if you're in NO1 or NO2 mode.

6 watts is more correct for a BCC. For the reasons, have a look here:

Make quite sure you are in RMS mode on the Vamo. AVG mode will burn your coils, by as much as an extra volt in some cases. If it's OK in voltage mode and not OK when set to 6 watts RMS then a coil with bouncing resistance is the most likely culprit. Unfortunately all replaceable head coils have a weak link, which is the contact between the coil wire and the center pin. You can remove the pin and clean the chrome oxide layer off the stainless steel by polishing it with toothpaste. Yes it's a PITA.

All Vamos have AVG mode except for the V3. I have no idea why they brought it back for the V4 and V5. On the V2 change to RMS mode by holding one of the change buttons for 15 seconds until it displays "No 2". If it says "No 1" then you just put it in AVG mode. On versions with the oLed display I believe it is a menu setting.

ETA:
Frequently checking the coil resistance with the Vamo will usually show if the coil resistance is bouncing up and down. Once you know this is the cause you can address the reason for the problem.

Just to verify, you hold the 'minus' [-] button down and it will take about 10 seconds to change on version 2 of the Vamo. :)

I have experienced the exact same thing, and after much observation, have come to this conclusion:

On bcc systems which have removeable heads like evods, t3s, protank, etc. the resistance may increase quite a lot when the base/ head cools down. Fire it up, and the resistance goes back to normal.

Most would say
1) check your legs. Make sure they are making good contact. Checked.
2) check to make sure the legs are trimmed off properly. Checked.

This never happens with t3(non removeable heads). So I think it may be due to the slight variations in the head and the base.

What to do:
Change to another head and see if the resistance creeps up as the clearo cools down. If it doesn't, pair them up. Keep doing this with all the bases and heads. In short, once they are paired up, do not mix them. It's not a problem for me as I do my own recoiling, but if you don't, then it might be more troublesome.

If you find the above solution troublesome, well, you can stick to using vv instead. To me, vw is overrated anyway.

Third solution is to fire for a split second and release . This brings down the resistance and hence the wattage the vamo sets would not burn your juice. Then fire away and vape as per normal. If clearo is not fired for some time, you would have to do the same thing again. May sound troublesome, but it's actually quite simple.

Hope this solves your problem.
