yeah I'm used to the first few drags being a little off, however i have tried adjusting my cotton in these builds from more to less and have the same problem. triple checked for hit spots and all coils are glowing inside out and evenly so that can't be the case. wicks seem to be very saturated, not some much that there is a ton of excess juice in the well, but enough to know they don't have any dry spots at all.

i can't seem to wrap my mind around this one as its only a problem I've had over the past few days and not before.

thanks for the quick responses guys i really do appreciate all the help

edit: on a very odd note, i switched juice and the problem went away. like immediately, could there be a problem with the juice i was using?

Im guessing there could be. Sounds like you stumbled on the problem try vaping the new stuff for a bit and when you get a chance try going back to the other. If the problem happens again. Then you might have found your problem. What is the ratio of the juices?

Been there done that myself. Turned out I was overpacking my cotton, once I figured that out I still wasn't happy with the flavor. I found that certain juices tasted like crap depending on the type of cotton ( I had a variety, organic, bleached, unbleached, straight out of the field, etc). I made the switch over to rayon and my flavor issues were solved completely. I've found rayon to be the best wick material I've ever used; I've rarely had a dry hit, easier to use once you get used to it and it doesn't affect the flavor at all. I've even ran it completely dry and refilled with no change in flavor. I even went back and dug out some of my "emergency" juices that tasted bad and found the flavor good on most, there were a couple that sucked regardless

i tried using differing amounts of cotton, as to be extremely loose, and rather snug, just to see if there was a difference, and it doesn't seem to matter. i used a very very strong juice to make it bare able, however after a puff or two it goes back to crappy cotton taste. i checked the juice in another build I've had for a while and it tasted great, i can't explain why this is happening and its frustrating lol

maybe its the actual cotton itself, maybe something happened to it. its a long shot but possible I guess. do you have some fresher stuff to try? like others mentioned, the main reason is over stuffing the coil, but if you have that crossed out then its not it. sometimes the coils can go bad and although you may not see any difference in it, could have a micro short in the coil. have you tried a new coil?

another vote for switching to rayon, it is fiddly until you get the hang of it then booom no more dry hits or cotton break in time ever again.

Just throwing it out there, have you tried cellu cotton? I've been using it a couple months and like it way better than the organic cotton I had been using. There's a huge thread here discussing it.

I agree with the above posters. Once I found rayon there was no going back to OC. It's super easy to wick with, imparts no off flavors to your juice and wicks like nobody's business. Longevity is longer than OC as well. Such a superior wicking material IMO.

Here's the thread mentioned by john333: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ck-better-flow-flavor-saturation-nic-hit.html

Which kind of cellucotton? The company that makes it has both a cotton and a rayon version. I use the cellucotton rayon type myself. Just make sure you don't get the reinforced stuff either way, it has a covering on it

Agreed. The manufacturer is Graham. I got mine from Sally's Beauty Supply locally.

There are 4 different sizes of the 100% Rayon.

44130 - 40 feet
44060 - 500 feet
44043 - 3 lb box (900 feet)
44050 - 1200 feet

Just make sure that whatever you buy has 100% Rayon and not 100% cotton on the box.

As far as I know the only difference between the reinforced and non, is a strip of reinforcement tape that runs the lenght, this tape should just peel right off leaving nothing but rayon

Wished I'd been able to find the 40 ft or 500 ft boxes, I ended up buying the 3lb box, got it for $15 or so. Not a huge amount of cash, but more than I really wanted to spend on wick. I'm thinking about taking it around to some of the brick and mortar shops here and see if I can't spread the word, and maybe give away a few hundred feet in the process
