So an update.

First, only got one of the two I ordered but Rob immediately said "oops" and the other is on the way. All good there!

Now, hypothetically speaking of course, say we collapsed our spring in a small puff of smoke (nothing major)... what would be the next course of action? The slight discoloration leads me to believe I shorted it somehow, assuming the carto.

Did I already break it?

Yep, the carto shorted your battery, and the spring did what it's supposed to do. Call Rob. He can either send you a spring to replace it yourself, or you can send the mod to him. Don't use that carto again, and check your battery with a multimeter.

Well @#$% that was short lived lol. Yeah tossed the carto already, and I could probably replace the spring myself if I can find a hex small enough for the screw.

Not sure why, and even looking around I don't know where I got it, but I thought it was coming with an atty. When it didn't, threw an iken v2 gold on there. The 90 seconds it worked, it worked like a champ, then I smelled something, looked down and "magic smoke" was coming out of the hole. Going to put an order in for some decent attys (as I should have in the first place) and give this another go.

Thanks again for the info :D.

Yeah got a set around here somewhere, just got to find them. If not though I love Harbor Freight :). Went to knock the dust off the fluke also and looks like I can't track it down, so may be making a run regardless.

And Jen I'd be more apt to blame myself than the carto to be honest. The carto actually still worked on my wetbox but I tossed it anyway. Didn't want to risk it in the rotation and ending up back on the Reo if it was actually faulty. And thanks, I'm pumped also!

That being said, when you screw the atty/cart on do you go 'till it stops, or just good enough? I'm wondering if I didn't have it on there properly causing this. I noticed the draw was a bit stiff but I think that's just the v2. Who knows... as long as I can buy new springs I'll get it figured out one way or another :D

So sometimes the atties, cartos, and adapters will cause a mod to short. If you look at the end of one you'll see an outer ring of metal and an inner ring of metal. These are separated by what I call an insulator ring. The inner metal part is the positive and the outer ring is the negative part. If the insulator ring fails and one touches the other...there is your short. :) When it is mashed in, this can cause the inner part to be pushed past the insulator ring. If you look at the atty connector in your mod, you will see the same set up there. If an adapter's inner ring is sticking out too far, it can push the inner ring on the connector past its own insulator ring and ...the short happens there. Just something to be aware of. I used the adapter as an example because it is most commonly the culprit, especially the adjustable ones where its inner part can be moved in or out to compensate for different atty connectors.

So got my spring, and proceeded to vape myself into a headache!!! HELL YEAH!!

Thanks again folks for the help, seriously this is one fine piece of equipment. The other half was super excited for her birthday present also! She has no 0mg juice... only 36mg, it's kinda killing her lol :) She's going to make a juice order and for the time being I had some lower nic stuff to give her.

I can already tell I think I'll be going below 2 ohm also, this is nice but I think I'll pick up a 1.5 and 1.8 at some point to see the difference.

You guys rock.
