Today started off pretty swell. Workout at 4:45 am, safety meeting at 5:30 and a bunch of sitting on my .... vaping a cotton candy / peach mixture out of my Atlantis on the CF SUB battery.

Got my clinic and office cleaned up and was looking forward to leaving tuesday for 3 weeks off, the first 3 week stretch I have had off in over 6 months.

Got called up stairs by my OIM ( offshore instilation manager ) and was told to sit down. Becasue of the irresponsible actions of the other medic who works opposite of me both the Paramedics on this location are being replaced. They are going to use a different agency.

This rig has been my home for almost 2 years, and I treat the crew out here like family. I supervise 11 medics on 6 locations in the gulf of mexico... well now 9 medics on 5 locations. I believe due to the price of Oil my company will be loosing the remaining 5 locations. I just got promoted to supervisor with a pay increase too.

This is the first time in a while that a fresh coil and a new flavor isnt cheering me up. I am regretting the vape-mail I have waiting for me at home, and the RV I just bought to replace my old one ( I am a full time RVer ).

I used to work offshore out of Cameron LA..except I was a engineer on a supply boat ..back then we didn't have vaping.. but I wish we had..at least you get the pleasure of vaping on the rig..even a bad day is better than smoking that nasty tobacco I would think..lol

I have to call 2 medics and fire them tomorrow. I have to leave the location where I have made the best of friends. We will most likely loose the remaining locations meaning 10 more guys including myself out of a job. Out of the 2 guys I have to let go tomorrow, I am forced to take one of those spots. Certainly makes me feel like crap. Then I have to break it to the remaining guys that have families to watch their financial situation in case of more lay offs. these guys have 20 and 30 years of saving lives rain, snow, heat and in dangerous situations. They have worked hard to get the opportunity to work out here and not have to pull up onto murder scenes or deal with child abuse case, grieving families, rape victims and miscarriages.

Due to multiple back injuries from pulling large injured people through car windshields, out of ditches or other rescue situations I really cant risk going back to an ambulance again.

Scratches head?... yeah its just been raining puppies and rainbows today.

I just dropped in to say that I hope things turn out to be not as bad as they seem.

But the bright side is, you own your RV and nobody can take that from you. If I had a bit more property I'd offer you a place to park it for a while.

And I appreciate your service to humanity as a medical professional.

I just fix planes. Perhaps there's a medic forum out there that could give you some leads to other opportunities?

They sure dont... dont sweat it bro, I didnt really give a detailed explaination at first... I was just depressed and needed to get it off my chest.

Best job I have ever had... I guess its time to look at plan B. I have options and another job offer, it just sucks starting all over again.

Oh to keep this vape related... what juice cheers you all up?

For me its Frankenvape... I have a bottle waiting for me at home.

Very sorry to hear it. While the remarkable and sudden drop in oil prices is helping many (I almost drove off the road when I passed the gas station up here the other day, with a gallon of regular unleaded at $1.89----couldn't quite believe it), there is the OTHER side of the coin. Some are getting hurt. Hope you find something even better, and land squarely on your feet.

it is OPEC keeping oil artificially low to slow down off shore and North American drilling. It's slow at work now because one of our product lines supplies the oil and gas industry. We were making 4 or more blow out prevention bundles a month; we haven't done one yet this month. I'd be more than happy to take a buy out, though...

Dan, I am so sorry.......I got it from the first post..... I'm glad you have options open to you, but it would seem none as attractive as what you have now. and it is so horrible to have to fire people. Especially if you have to take their spot All I can say is.....try to focus on the positives you do have. I always told my son that no matter how dark things get, there is always something to be thankful for, and you do have those things it seems. Try to keep your focus on the good, and try not to feel guilty about things you're forced to do. Don't know if you're a praying guy or not, but if so, just pray for those who are losing their jobs. God's got them in His hands too. Not trying to preach or force my views, but throwing it out there.

and I truly appreciate the life saving and back breaking work that you do!

The only thing I ever want to fire is sub ohm coils... keeping it on vaping discussion.

Yes this sudden drop in oil prices has been manufactured. It isnt going to effect the large companies that can hold out, but it will effect the smaller companies and millions of guys just trying to pay bills from week to week.

I am not sure if its OPEC or what... but the prices have been artificially lowered... it has been a real blow to Russia, and that is probably going to keep them from becoming a super power and causing trouble in europe... I dunno... Didnt sleep worth a crap last night...

Sorry for the news mate and I'm hoping for the best.

As for juice... I just rewicked my newly minted and made by the ultimate master coiled/builder of 1 day skill. I couldn't have done a better job!!!! :)
The juice however... Hmmmmmm. I just cracked open 'C for cookie by the Toronto Juice Company' it's ok but I'll mess about with the heat and find that special taste. (Update: found the sweet spot and yum yum)
As for a favorite. Well that's easy - Mrs Claus. It was a seasonal, limited edition blend and I can't get enough of it. I rushed out to buy 5 more bottle as I accidently spilled one and lost half the contents.
Cheers mate and keep your stick on the ice.
