Would getting the provari first save me from buying multi pv's? What I got now is mall brand at best, what I had before was worse. I'm smoking now so anything would be better. I can spend the $ if it works. But cheap kits are not the way to go for me. P.S. I would like a big tank to grab and go for all day use. Thinking phiniac or the sub from momandpopvape.

Although I am not that into variable voltage (because it's to that important to me), do own a provari. It was given to me for free, otherwise I wouldn't have it.
Anyway, I only use mini's out of the house, it if I were going to carry something larger than a mini, whether it be a kgo or a mod, I don't think I would carry the provari.
It is much smaller than thought. When you see the videos, it looks like a monster, but it is just a touch taller than my 650X2 and about the diameter of a nickel. The problem is, it's HEAVY. In both a good and bad way. In a good way because you can tell its a solid piece of machinery, but in a bad way because it weighs 4 oz more than my 650x2. I couldn't see walking around with this in my pocket.
Because of that, you might want a cheaper mod or a small fixed voltage device for when you aren't home. It all depends on your needs. Like I said, (even though this will make John D cringe) I like fixed voltage. I prefer to vape right wound 5 1/2 watts, so my mini volt 78mm is perfect for on the road. I also understand that other people love them, that's whats great. The only reason I is own the vv is because it was free, and I only use it with the vivi nova heads that I don't use on my x2 (set at 3.9-4.0v for the 2.8ohm and 3.2v for the 1.8ohm one.

For me, this has become as much hobby as a quit cig method. I don't spend money on gambling, booze or much of anything else except golf. I do not have many friends and none who who would be impressed because I bought a top of the line apv, so I am not trying to show off or impress anyone. I am very, very happy with my eGo twist and would highly recommend it to anyone for what it is. I will always have a device of this type handy and will be my pv of choice when leaving the house.
As John D has pointed out, there are different devices to fill different needs and situations. I work from home a lot and knew I would wind up nickel and dimeing my way all the way up to a Provari so went for it early. I do not spend money easily but when I do, I like to buy the best I can afford. I do not know if the Provari is worth what they are asking for it but it is worth it to me because I think it's cool as much as I believe it to be a top performer as an at home primary pv.
There was some misinformation earlier as well in this thread about the Twist being superior for dual coil to the provari. It is not and this has been proven with voltage measuring devices. Even at max 4.2v a 1000 mah Twist will not pull more than 3.7v on a 1.5 dual carto. (Proved by pbusardo) Doesn't matter to me as i like single coil anyway, but certainly will matter to others.
One of the things I like most about the Provari besides the form factor, is it's ability to deliver consistant voltage through out the day. My Twist can not do this and even being new I can tell a difference in the vape off of a freshly charged battery and a half drained and almost dead one.
I am not knocking the Twist at all, just bought a 2nd one for my wife to use to take to work with her. But my point is that there are a lot of different pv's out there with different abilities, performance, size and price points. Do your homework and find the ones that fit your needs best and don't knock others if they choose differently as their parameters are almost certainly different than yours.

It is never my intent to "knock" anyone for anything; judge not, lest you be judged and found lacking (which I am).
That said, I think it's fair and in accordance with the Golden Rule to ask questions like "what is the compelling reason to recommend a kGo battery over a Joyetech eGo-C Twist"?
I would look at the VV Gripper. It costs less than the lavatube and has a 4 amp limit unlike the LT's 2.5 amp limit which means you can use any atty or carto on it including dual coil.
Have you considered the Vmax? Blows the lavatube away and is only $80 at madvapes or 95 with batteries and free shipping at crystalclearvaping.com Personally I went with CCV and Andrew is a really nice guy there. I have never owned a Provari but have used one and I would buy the Vmax every time over the Provari. Plus for thge price of a Provari you can have 2 Vmax's and a 5 amp limit. I like the SS Vmax myself. Good Luck with whatever you decide. they all work well really and are a huge improvement over the ego. 
This is a good explanation of the benefits of an advanced PV such as the Provari. I have the Darwin and both are top of the line with features that many other variable models do not have. Two of the most compeling to me are the ability to vape any carto or atty on them and probably even more important: the consistency. There are a few people on ECF who attack these better models for some odd reason. Some even goes as far as stating you need multiple different inexpensive models because these higher end models don't have enough features or that consistency isn't a good thing. That's just strange and illogical. At least for most, if a PV is completely consistent throughout the battery charge, has no drop off in power or limiting factor, has long battery life, allows you to vape up to 5 volts and allows one to use any atty or carto they please, it will meet the needs of the vast majority. Why do I need multiple PV's (other than a backup) when one PV can do all of that? And if you can find all of that in a model that costs less, that's a plus.
