LOL, I don't really have an opinion. Thankfully I have not really delved that deeply into the world of perfect building (because I'm not going to achieve it anyway. Decent is more than good enough for me.)

@Don29palms , I did want to say, I admire your passionate opinion. I hope you aren't holding back, or rather, I kind of hope you ARE holding back, because I am enjoying it a lot.:lol:

It's not making me much want to watch the videos in any case.

I have been inside a real wind chamber though, like of human size, it was some field trip at some point. I will say, you know that type of stuff... .It's hard to recreate in a home environment (although I realize-- probably-- we are not discussing exactly the same thing, but....)

Anna
When you were in the chamber did they turn it on? You can see how the slightest variance can make a big difference. It's like when you put your hand out the window when you're driving. The slightest change shows right away.

Yup. It was super fun. That's how I know to remember it.

My field trips in HS were always mega fun, or really evil. Like, we went to a waste water sewage plant treatment place and a dead guy was filtered out. The guide said "That happens all the time." The smell was.....

We were all supposed to gulp down a glass of "water" afterwards and like, I got a C because I went and sat in the van after a while. I was done.

I also went home and informed my parents that I was like, in need of Evian for my personal hygiene and beverage needs. They refused.

So, I began purifying my drinking water with my parents liquor cabinet because I didn't want to drink dead person, at least uncut.

Yeah, the topic came up in Rehab #1 if I recall correctly.

My parents remained unimpressed. I kind of think my super train wrecky "family therapy weekends" were ONE reason the rehab let me out a week early.

They did NOT want to complete the final one. I also did not have to do um, psychotdrama, which I was SUPREMELY thankful for. The "therapist" doing it had facial tattoos and she must have been 60 years old. Her goal was to make you cry.

When she informed me of this I just gave her a blank stare and said, "Facial tattoo lady making an impressionable young girl cry? I thought this was supposed to be reheb, not prison."

Seriously, she told me she had "things in store for me" and I had not cried in 6 years, I was like, "Oh.... bad things are going to happen, she is WAY to sure of herself."

LOL yeah though wind tunnel: Epic. And extremely precise.

I’d like to try the flat wire but I had trouble winding just clapton wire the other day ;(

I was going to try some parallel wire coils and I kinda forgot about it so I think I’ll give that a shot for more wire surface but quicker ramp up than more exotic coils

My last foray into wire experimentation was making twisted wire. It was like a fun girls scout activity with a mug dangling from the wire as I kept whipping it around.

It came out pretty good too except I got too much darn spitback all the time from it. The vertabraid wire was even worse!

So yeah. I’ll try parallel. Doesn’t look very difficult or have all those nook & crannies to get spitback from.

Flat wire, I ordered some today from Lightening Vape. I read enough on here to entice a try. Surface area got me.

I just got 100 feet of 26 gauge 316 from them, it's fantastic wire! Works great in temp control, no weird flavor and you can't beat the price. @Don29palms I just wanted to add to what Anna said that I appreciate your' opinion and side of things.

It's all good. If you get the chance pick up some nichrome80 .9mm x .3mm rectangle wire from kbeevapor.com. It's great wire.

Polish it up and it's really cool on pictures. But it is a fingerprint magnet so care needed for art photos.

Yeah, basically another way of increasing surface area. Best in clamp style decks as it is otherwise tough to trap (not impossible) with a grub screw with a circular hole post. It's also really springy so it takes some extra force to pull tight when you wrap it around your mandrel.

Edit, here's an example all polished up

Hi Eskie:)I didn't know you were into flat wire. I started using it myself because surface area minus the bulk just made sense to me. My other favorite coils are Framed Stapled Claptons which are built with ribbon wire and wrapped with very fine round wire. Both fit well in most decks these days made to trap flatter shaped coils I noticed. There's an ebay seller from across the pond that sells Sandvik sourced flat kanthal 0.2 x 1.5 mm. Pretty expensive stuff but well worth it. It cleans up in one fire and when I polish it with a brass brush it looks like new. I've used the same coil transferred to other decks and it keeps on going! I'll post some pix below.

That's proven science. Airflow under vacuum from the top does not go down before it goes up. Oen puts on a good show to fool fools. He is a liar and a con man.
Ain't that the truth! I think that's why I didn't care for the first generation of top air attys, lol.

My impression of Oen was that he was just learning and sharing his conclusions (albeit, the wrong ones) with his viewers. He really should get more education under his belt before going public with it for pete's sake! A good example was his first RDA design. Just one look and I knew I wouldn't buy that thing. Is he a con or just having a big "der" moment? Idk and don't have the time nor interest to analyze him. :tumble::laugh:

There's been a lot said about Oen. If I may throw my 2 cents in.....the bottom line for me is that it's important to have your facts straight before presenting them to the public. If not, then be honest with your viewers that you are still learning yourself and refer them to other sources of information.

Every experienced vapor knows how air hits a coil, for instance. I was surprised by his lack of knowledge on the subject and it was clear, by his first RDA design, that he didn't grasp the importance of air flow to coil. The wicking was a whole different travesty in itself, lol. Why Atom Vapes decided to sink money into it is a mystery to me. And I feel sorry for the inexperienced vapers who spent money. I hold Atom Vapes more responsible than Oen for they are supposed to be the experts, right? They should have told him to go back to the drawing board or worked with him. Instead, they seized upon an opportunity for a quick buck? If you read the link below it becomes clear that they found an opportunity in this "new and different" reviewer, Oen Marten.

Here's a link to the NI80 if you're interested:

Nichrome 80 Rectangle Resistance Wire - 0.9*0.3mm

SS316 is also available here. Use code KBEE at checkout, think it's 20% off.

I have bought their SS316 and Kanthal (round) wire bundles as well. Good quality wire and great prices on the bundles.

I may have to place another order with them. :D
Thx, score, I'm going to check them out. I've been using flat kanthal wire that I have to order from abroad (1.5 x 0.2mm). Great stuff but I was looking for a smaller width and here it is!

That was the best story yet! Lmao and horrified at the same time. Not by the dead man, the therapist.

These days it's hard to find any metal in the US that doesn't have alloys from China. Scandinavia still manufactures high quality kanthal but I had to wait a couple of weeks.

Jeez that's heavy duty gauge. Whats the ramp up like with those? Is flavour good? :)

Fast and good:).....yes, it's wide but only 0.2mm as opposed to the ni80 mentioned which is 0.3mm. Idk, if it's the quality but I never get a hot spot. It just fires perfectly right out of the gate. But you're right, it's a lot of coil. The one in the pic reads 0.4 ohms

ETA: large ID, 4mm

I don't think you can go wrong on flavor with flat wire's surface area.

@charlie1465 Not sure what ramp would be like on other mods but I'm using it with 18650 x 2 or xx700 batts sometimes in VV

I might try some of this wire. I like the idea of the wide bore also as it should improve wicking IMHO...thanks :)
