I love the locking bottom cap but have to be honest and say that the button doesn't look anywhere near as nice as the original IMO. It looked very recessed into the body, as if you need to use the very tip of a finger to operate it, as opposed to just being able to grip the original button with any part of the hand.

Just my 2 cents and I hope it will not be seen as criticism :)

I remember when he put this video and thought it was cool... I'm sure the final version he could come up would look much nicer remember this was a prototype from a year & a half ago.
Oh, I didn't realize it was that old. I thought it was something more current. Thanks for pointing that out.

Hey M - thats not whats pictured in the video - and yes that is a nice bottom also. I just don't care for a locking bottom cap instead of a locking button. That's me though, the buttons now are beautiful - also hence the reason for the new brass buttons coming - People still clamor for the locking buttons - even in brass. I have never seen another button anywhere that can compare to a GGTS button as it is.

Nevermind me Martinc, didn't mean to insult you if I did. I'm just all worked up over this and need to leave this thread for awhile.

And btw,I never had any hints of anything negative anyways

Guys this video by Imeo was posted October 13th 2010, a year and a half ago!! Initially I was under the impression that it is new but after some research I found it's very old.

I stated this back in post #80 I'm sure if he did it now it would look much better ;)

Agreed, I don't see any need to "upgrade" the current locking mechanism on the button. With some minor maintenance, the current GGTS and GGTB buttons are perfect. Maybe if we could see a picture of what Imeo is dreaming up I could take a firmer stance in favor of the new style, but until then, I staunchly believe that nothing needs to be changed. As for the air holes, the 12 on the bottom cap are more than adequate. In the event of the bottom of the battery swelling, I'm sure that there's an adequate amount of room between the threads of the telescope and bottom and top tubes for gas to vent.
