What are you testing your flavors with?

I'm new to the whole vape scene but I've been looking back at cigs laughing for months now. I've decided that I definitely want to start making my own juice.

My question is am I going to go through a million cartos playing with the flavors?
I'm using a Pyrex tank setup.
Is everyone dripping then dry burning w a mechanical mod to check out the difference between all the tweeks in their recipes?

After buying 510 attys for a while, I decided to cheap out and use modified Kanger bottom coil cartomizers. I rip out the polyfill, diaper, and center tube, and just drip into it like I would any atomizer. 2 drops at a time. I keep it clean with Atty Refresher from Want2Vape that they threw in for free with my last order. I was surprised at how effective that stuff is at degunking my wick.

I typically use a 510 bridgeless dripping atty. They are cheap. Like $5 each and they last quite a while. You can just rinse with hot water, blow out, and switch flavors with ease. If the recipe tastes really good in a 510 I'll give the flavor a chance in an igo with cotton wick or silica. You can swap cotton easily and silica rinses pretty easily too.

I use the immortalizer clone from fasttech. I bought it for testing, but I've wound up using it more than I thought I would, along with my 804s. So I'd say pick up an inexpensive dripper from fasttech and a roll of 30 or 32 gauge from ebay. Wrapping your own coils is easy and fun plus you get to control the quality of your vape to your own preferences. :vapor:.

I have not had any success dripping with the one 510 I have. I now use an Evod and separate heads for each mixture. If I have 3 batches (one at 10%, one at 12.5% and one at 15%) I dry burn three coils and drip each mixture on its on coil, screw the Evod back together and vape away. This way I don't have to be concerned with the mixtures blending together. It's easy to go back and forth by just screwing different coils into the base.

Sounds like a plan. I'm thinking the Evod heads can be recoiled if you're inclined to do so. Have you tried the so called 'dragon' coil yet?

Been thinking about these.. I already use a couple regular drippers, but I'm thinkin' these would be better for the task.
would anybody think these would be good for testing our juices, "quick and east clean?
SmartVapes 306 Dripping Atomizer
they also have the long barrel 510, god reviews on both..

The only difference between a 510 and a 306 is that the coil on the 306 sits higher, so you get a warmer vape. Both work equally well for the task of testing flavors.

I started by testing flavors on a smoktech octopus RDA, using a micro coil/cotton wick setup that I rebuilt it with. The whole device is total crap, though. The juice (rather than the vapor) would end up in my mouth, due to the poorly designed airflow system. So now I just use a kanger coil (rebuilt with micro coil/cotton) with either an EVOD or Protank base. I just leave the tank off and drip directly onto the coil, then put the metal post back over the coil and inhale through that. Works just like a dripping atty!

Great Atties, imo! I used both their 306 and 510 for a long time. Haven't used them since I started on the RDA path, but doesn't change my high opinion of them ;)

I do rebuild my coils for the Evods and ProTanks. I was reading the post the other day one the "Dragon" but haven't tried it yet. All I have is 32 gauge wire and if I remember correctly you need a thicker wire for that.

I use 32 all the time, as it's all I have. It works great unless you want to go sub ohm. I fold a piece of it in half and wrap the two wires together, side by side, as if I was wrapping one wire. That way I can get more wraps and still keep my ohms down to around 1.4 to 1.5 ohms. I like low ohms but not sub ohm.

I'm also curious; why would the bottom holes in a carto be covered for testing new liquids?

Also, for Tbev, I have recently asked PBusardo for his opinion on a similar topic, and he recommends an HH 357 for testing flavors. I couldn't tell you why, but when I do, I'll update this post.

Probably because a broken-in HH.357 has the best flavor transfer of any commonly available 510 atomizer. It's basically a Cisco spec 306's guts in a 510 package. A long barrel HH.357 is a great thing to have at the mixing table.
