So much good advice in this thread and well worth reading. To help narrow it down, answer a few questions for yourself.

Do you spend a lot of your day away from a charging spot? I.E. do you work outside or constantly on the move?
Are you less concerned about the size of the e-cig? I.E. do you not feel the need for it to be close to the size of an analog?
Do you plan on vaping more than the equivalent of a pack of smokes a day?

Pretty simple, IMHO, if you answer no to the above questions, get a Volt from Smokeless Image. If you are constantly on the move and plan on vaping during that time, you may want larger batteries for the Volt or a totally different solution that has much larger battery life. Volt cartos hold "about" a pack of smokes worth of juice and you can get one that holds "about" one and a half packs.

Now, this is all hinging upon the fact that someone is going to get a starter kit of some kind and not do a whole bunch of addons right out of the gate. Sure, you can get larger clearomizers or tanks or ... it just goes on.

TLDR - want something the size of a regular cig? Get a Volt. Want something that you can smoke on uninterrupted for hours and hours, get some of the larger kits (see thread for advice on that).

I bought an apollo extreme kit and am decently satisfied with it. the cartomizers last me only a day which is a big problem for me as I love to vape continuously.
This is why we all switch to refilling the cartomizers ourselves.
It's so much cheaper, and exposes you to an entire world of juice options.

I started off with disposables (Puro), which tasted good but had terrible QC and would last anywhere from a week to a day, depending on luck of the draw. Did some speedy research on a comparable kit I could save money on as far as cartomizers went and split an Apollo Extreme kit with my friend from work and it hit the spot nicely. Easy to recharge, portable and discrete. But, after experimenting with refillable cartomizers and charging batteries I realized that to get the best TH I wanted I was constantly filling the things up and figured I'd get a VTube and some tanks for a more efficient alternative. Those get here next week. So far, so good (though whoever it was that said here to not underbuy on carts/juice when you start couldn't have been more right).

I go against the many here :) I love my volt,,love love LOVE my volt! No, you won't get 20 hours batt life, but for a decent price (65.00 or less) you can get a kit with 2 batts, chargers, 5 cartos (refillable) and a PCC or Personal Charging Case. To use the case, I charge it over night, then pop it into my purse if I am going to be gone all day. I then use the PCC to charge a batt as soon as it dies,,,,I then use the second batt, while the first is charging. Easy peasy,,,,,,I went to Disney yesterday and was there for 10 hours,,,,,,,2 batts were sufficient, and I didn't even NEED to use my PCC. I do recommend the 78mm batts instead of the 65 mm because they last longer, and they are only 1.00 more per batt.

X2, have tried cigarette sized ones and do not like them. I got a KGO a few weeks ago through advice i got from a friend that been vaping for a year and a half i believe.

The Ego Twist also looks pretty interesting

at first I thought i wanted a cigarette sized one because it resembles a cigarette more and i was concerned how a 6.5" long device would look in public, but the more I vaped the more i got used to it. I am glad i didnt' get a cigarette sized one

P.S. Before i got the KGO 2.5 weeks ago i was a pack a day smoker. The battery lasts around a day for me but im vaping a good amount. The cigarette sized ones wouldnt work for me, the battery life and quality of the vape doesnt cut it. If you were/are a heavy smoker around a pack a day, trust me the cigarette sized wont cut it

I don't agree :) I was a 2 pack a day smoker and I love my volt,,,,,,,,,again, though, I recommend the PCC so you can charge on the go and always have one charging and one using.

My first choice was a 510 penstyle from www.efoxcigs.com . It came with a 2 batts, 2 attys, five carts and a PCC. It did the trick for me! I was hooked. Before long I was trying out cartomizers and experimenting with Dual Coil technology. I reached the ceiling of this devices capability within 6 months and upgraded to the EGO 900mah battery to test the waters of bigger batts. I was impressed so I went forward and ordered the EGO W from china. This was the 1100mah model with the first metal hard plastic tank system for ego that had the pen typ cap:) I hated the tank due to leakage ( of course ) and went back to finding the perfect cartos. Eventually I settled on DCHV cartos from Joye eGo | Joye 510 | Electronic Cigarette supplies Tulsa | Batteries, atomizers, cartomizers, e-Liquid and more! Since then I have stuck with DCHV types of carts and cartos. Recently I made the jump to Variable voltage with the Ego C Twist 1000mah. My newest kit is 2 1000mah EGO C Twists with PCC and lanyard using VIVO V2's 1.8-2.8ohm with DIY Menthol ICE 50V/50P 24 mg.
In a nutshell if you know you have that I want lots of VAPOR drive inside your mind skip the wasted time and go with what we all have:)

The x2 is the same thing as a kgo except 808 threads.

As far as the mini not having as much vape, that's just not true. A volt mini will put out the same exact amount of vape as the kgo. The are both around 3.7v. The mini just won't last as long. But a kgo is not more powerful than a mini battery

To start I went with the deluxe Nebula (808) kit from VaporNine and like CommaHolly loves her Volt I LOVE my VaporNine Nebula system(under 45.00 for a really great preforming and looking customizable (808) kit and their customer service is just excellent!) I like the analog/regular cig size and feel and I know it is what got me and helps keeps me off analogs starting day one with this kit. It is perfect to tuck into my pocket or purse and go and the variety of different colors/sizes of their 808 batteries (combined with a matching drip tip) gives me a really sleek look I love too.

The other kit I have purchased so far is an Inferno kit from Volcano. Honestly I could not be more pleased with this purchase, excellent quality, opens up the opportunity to try different methods of vaping, bigger then the 808 so the battery life is much better, but still small enough to fit nice in my hand and carry most anywhere, about the size of a cigar and it looks as great as it preforms and again excellent excellent customer service, tons of info on their site with a great community there and the absolutely best warranties hands down from any ecig company out there on what they sell that I have looked at to purchase from.

In the interest of accuracy, both batteries should come off the charger at around 4.2 volts.
But the Volt and X2 batteries are regulated down to 3.6 volts whereas the Kgo batteries are not as far as I know.

So the Kgo should provide more power right off the charger, and hold on to that edge for awhile.
Of course, towards the end it will also drop down below the 3.6 volts of the Volt/X2 batteries, providing a weaker vape at that point.

If you want a cig sized setup, I would recommend the Joye eGo 510 battery and cartomizers. They are great introductory setups and like mentioned above, many people move on to larger setups through experience.

This is exactly what I have just done - ordered about 10 mins ago and then joined ECF (have lurked for a while!).

I ordered Blu because a friend had tried it from his coworker and thought it was ok... while waiting, went to 7-11 and bought disposable njoy... then bought njoy kit.

After that, I bought the KGO kit, then a 650mAh ego, then a Provari and a ego twist (along with some of those embossed ego battery) and have a white ego twist coming also).

All of this started June 17, 2012...

Hoping to get a Zenesis next.

Currently trying various carto tank, clearomizer, rebuildable atty etc to get the taste that is really satisfying.
