My first cigarette was a Fatimah, back in the 50's (anyone remember those?). Favorite overall was Dunhill menthol 100, full flavor. When prices got ridiculous, would stock up abroad on cruises. Still have a carton of these in the freezer -- just in case.

Last cigarette was a DTC menthol 100 full flavor. (DTC stands for Doral tobacco Company. Local wags maintain it stands for Don't Touch Cigarettes...)

I took to vaping like a duck to water for one major reason: Just before finding it I had been on a search for a smoke with enough menthol for me. I began smoking at 11 with Salems and I swear there was more menthol in all menthol smokes back then. Over the years I changed brands many, many, times and always based on how much menthol I felt. In the last years I even tried soaking whatever brand I had in Tasty Puffs menthol. In the end, the one with the most menthol was Pall Mall full flavor but they were so strong I had to use disposable plastic filters... the best to get the menthol without the too strong TH and smoked those for a couple of years before discovering vapor and I now am in menthol heaven.

I occasionally smoked Marlboro Reds but I was always more of a cigar person. When I wanted something a little lighter I'd smoke a Black and Mild cherry tipped, those were good. Usually on the weekends I'd sit outside and puff on a Partagas or a Macanudo cigar.

I started smoking with black and mild wine wood tips. I remember the first one i had made me so light headed i kept dropping it. Then i started working for a guy who owned a cigar shop. My favorite is still isle del soul. However for cheap cigars its backwood wild n mild. Those things are so good

My first cigarette brand ever was Mayfair, then I went through a bunch of other brands and my final ever brand was JPS Blue, I think I'd still smoke them today if I still smoked or enjoyed smoking which since vaping I don't

Hey guys. Qhat was your prefered cigarette/ cigar before vaping?

Mine were winston red 100s or pall mall reds with no filter

I smoked the finest, and most full bodied turkish poision I could find. :p just kidding. Here's my terrible tobacco story:

-My parents always smoked and I loved the smell of it, they quit smoking shortly after me and my bro turned 5 or 6, when I was 13 (I think) my Dad had started smoking very very lightly again (he's quit now, but went through a month or so of "relapse") and I found his marlboro reds laying on table, so I took one and saved it for when he left. I got some matches and smoked the marb red in the worst way possible: I didn't light the cig in my mouth I held it over the match to get it nice and sulfury, I then inhaled it with my lungs directly and then held it like a .... hit. Naturally it wrecked my lungs and made me nearly ralph it was so strong, but I pushed through it a little longer to see what the hype was about...I didn't find the hype. After a splitting headache from smoking a marlboro red in the harshest way possible at 13, I was pretty sure I'd never smoke again.

-Until this Native American hippie friend of mine at work let me try one of his camel menthol lights (I was 18 at this point, almost turning 19 which is the legal age of smoking in Alaska) and by then I was smart enough to know to inhale it with my mouth (I had some practice with other herbs huehuehue, quit that too). AND IT WAS AWESOME! Especially when your bored at work, and a stressed out freshmen in college, the buzz was pretty strong but SOOO much smoother than those marb reds 5 years ago. Unfortunately I was hooked.

- My ultimate favorite tobacco's were all turkish (most were camel's), I liked methols and tobacco with actual flavor unlike most american brands (I hate to say it). But I tried everything pretty much:
1.Camel Crush's (yeah they're teenage girl cigs but I don't care, the tobacco is amazing and creamy by itself, but when you crush the ball, a dessert mint.)
2.Camel Turkish Gold's (I liked these best when I could find them, hiiiigh quality cigs, they even have gold leafing around the ....)
3.Djarum Black's (Menthol & Tea, man these are strong, on the manly scale these make marb red's look like virginia slims, they tasted like mystical herb cigs to me.)
4.Camel Menthol Wides (These were satisfying if you actually wanted alot of dense smoke, like I do with my vapor now :p, same amazing turkish tobacco but thick)
5.Newports (I think these should actually be higher on the list, I bought a pack if I was "having a bad day", they'd wreck my lungs the next morning though.)
6.American Spirits (I absolutely loved these because they tasted organic, and were actually available, unfortunately I didn't smoke them often because the tobacco companies raised my nicotine tolerance, and anyone who's tried them knows they aren't nearly as strong as others, most likely because they don't throw a teaspoon of ammonia on them, but these would probably be number 1 otherwise, THESE HELPED ME QUIT ALONG WITH VAPING, I was smoking these happily the last few weeks I was an ashtray. I really appreciated the "real" flavor they had, and how the nicotine doesn't absolutely addict you immediately.

7.Marlboro No.27's (I've never understood why people like Marlboro other than the obvious nicotine amount, yeah they have a HUGE amount of nicotine in them, scientifically you can see that they spray "freebase nicotine" on their cigs to achieve that, let alone feel the huge buzz off of them. Newports gave me the same buzz, but tasted more "wholesome". These 27's were darn good though, they are the only ones out of the whole line that didn't taste like they were flavored unnaturally. I'd grab some when I felt like tasting that real southern tobacco with a huge buzz. By the time I was done smoking Marlboro red's didn't taste the best, feel the best, or even smell the best, I'll admit they are a nice well-rounded cig but why are they the highest-selling cig of all time? At first I thought it was a masculinity thing getting the roughest, most potent, and cheapest cig around but when I tried that later when I was 20, it definitely wasn't that. And compared to Newport non-menthols they were like Virginia Slim light's.

-Since then I haven't even really thought about smoking ever again, I'll fully admit every now and then when the liquor persuades me I'll have a cig my friends offer me, or even one after some good sex, but every single one I've had since I quit has SUCKED. Now that I can smell and taste again, I realize what I'm putting in my lungs and it's much more overwhelming now that my body isn't "altered" to make smoking easier. I usually don't come CLOSE to finishing one, and feel the need to go mouthwash quite often because it's so overwhelming. I'm happy though that my tolerance has dropped through the floor, it makes it that much easier to never pick up smoking again.

~In fact I think I may go smoke a dusty old camel crush that's in my glove box, I'm confident I won't be pulled back in. Did you guys know if you don't chronically smoke, your lungs are capable of expelling all the carcinogens in 3-4 cigs per day? I learned that studying to be a nurse. Good luck former smokers! Vape on!

Kamel Reds. My father in law still smokes them. When I see him pull them out I miss the packaging, but not the smokes. Weird?

Same here haha, they have that nostalgic 1950's design to them, which I would've loved to live in. Where men were men and women were women, I'll admit they were good smokes.
