Obviously, vaping would have to be terrible to even come into the same league as analogs but,

What's up with this phlegm?

Anyone who has done any real reading about this and could point me to some reliable info, I would really appreciate it.

My first flush of excitement with this product line has me "selling" to my friends and i would like to be able to answer these questions.

Thanks

Phlegm is related to disease where as mucus is related to irritation. (Phlegm - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Any irritant, either smoke or vapors can cause mucus. Sinus infections, chest colds, viruses or bacteria
can create phlegm. In my experience with cigarettes and vaping, there is no comparison to the amounts
of mucus produced from smoking as compared to vaping. I haven't hocked up a lugie since I switched from
the analogues to vaping. ( hocking and lugie being scientific terminology...of course)

+1 for drinking more water. I only get the mucus issue if I let myself get dehydrated. PG and VG are de-humectants and will dry you out. You must drink a LOT (and I mean a LOT) of water to compensate for it.

The increased water intake is not only healthy for you, but also helps to flush the toxins from smoking out of your system more quickly.

I hacked up quite a bit of mucus when I started vaping, but attributed it to the vapor helping clean out my lungs. Over a year later, vapin high VG w/ HV on DCs, I occaisionally cough, but it's due to something in the air. I couldn't tell you the last time I experienced phlegm or mucus, unless we go back to my analog days. Then it was daily.

If you just quit the stinkys an are just vaping now, the first few weeks is tuff! Your body is going thru withdraws "even tho you still get nicotine thru vaping" your body is use to all that buning crap "tar" so now your lungs are clearing out "hacking up all that analog crap"

Yes, it's been said by some here already and I have to repeat it "drink plenty of water!"

I had smoked for 27years and I remember when I quit. The withdraws lasted about a month. My first couple of weeks I actually got sick from it,...cold and flu / strep throat like symptoms. Our bodies react differently tho. A friend of mine that started vaping the same time I did had no reaction at all other than hacking up tar for a week....

Yep, I remembered to warn you about the possibility of sore throat, but forgot to mention the goop. It really does seem like it's loosening up all the crap in your lungs from the cigs, but it could also be your body adjusting to a new irritant. Drink lots and lots of fluids (throw in a Gatorade every once in a while - to avoid hyponatremia) and power through it. It will be worth it in the long run. You may experience sore throat, mucus, headaches, wooziness (generally too high nic), etc. The last two are common when you are chain vaping to get through analog cravings. It's a process. I'm really glad you're asking questions. :)

yeah, got the dizziness and the headache last night after a craving and hitting this thing like a c$@($ pipe.

Didn't smoke though, and figured I had hit a "too much" level with the nic

Surely sounds like you did! I've found (reading ECF) that people usually hit their stride within a couple weeks. The mucous clears, the sore throat clears, they've regulated their increased water intake, they've determined how NOT to give themselves headaches and dizziness, etc... Like I said earlier, it's a process and there's a surprising learning curve, but it all works out pretty quickly, in the long run. Sounds like you are doing FABULOUSLY! This is exciting as all get-out! Seriously. :D

Both batts had died and Pat was borrowing Erica's blue one...
Long story short, I smoked 1 analog (it was nasty and I didn't finish it) borrowed the blue one from Pat until the charge came up and ordered two more batteries.

Thinking we will be pretty well set by the beginning of next week

I think Vitamin C as well. Every puff of smoke killed it instantly.
Can't remember where, but I think I read somewhere that PG was really good at clearing out alveoli (the little air pockets in your lungs) too...or something like that. Then all that crap has nowhere to go but UP (ewww). HACK!
Here's a link that helped me out a lot at first: List of Symptoms when switching to ecigs

About 3 weeks after I quit analogs / started vaping, I felt like CRAP! I had a sore throat, sinus issues, headache, body aches, irritability, etc.....
It lasted for about 2 weeks and then I felt GREAT and have felt pretty darn good ever since then. I haven't had a hit off of a real cigarette since jan. 14...I haven't been sneaking hits or anything...and I feel much healthier now.
I do still occasionally have phlegm that comes up, especially in the shower, but I *feel* like the vaping is actually loosening all that crud up in my lungs and helping me to purge it. Of course, I cannot prove this medically or scientifically. I feel this is the case based on past experiences of quitting cold turkey without vaping compared to quitting this time with vaping. It feels different to me.

Keep up the good work everyone! We are fighting the good fight to stay off of analogs!!

P.S. and yes...WATER is your new best friend!
