A chimney will create condensation though. And really, if you want an rda with a chimney just get an extra long drip tip. Though, i've got a handful of ss drip tips which are the size of a gear shifter, all they ever did was create a whole load of condensation and i'd get a mouth full of juice after a while.
Condensation will happen no matter what! You don't see it as much in an rda because it happens in the cap and it gets "recirculated" in a way. Generally, rta, specifically mtl rtas, are vaped at lower watts and have higher ohm coils and don't produce as much vapor as a cloud machine so condensation will be less.

Just curious, why do you suggest an RDA instead of an RTA for a beginner? Aren’t they pretty much the same?

Yeah, but the wicking is the same thing. At least from what I’ve seen

An RDA will be MUCH easier for a few reasons

-No worry about exact wicking
-No worry about tank pressure
-No worry about tank leaks due to improper build / wicking
-No real worry about flooding
-No real word about gurgling

Most RDA's are dead simple. Build and slap cotton in. With tanks you need to worry more about a few additional things and being more precise.

And RDA will be MUCH more forgiving with suspect builds and improper wick.

Wicking between an RTA and an RDA is not the same. With most RDA's you do not need to worry about getting the wick into a juice channel nor do you need to worry about getting the wick legs the proper thickness or length for a given tank...

Bottom feed RDA (squonkers) are a bit different and can be a bit more difficult that an standard RDA..

Not directed at anyone one in particular but doesn't it make you wonder why people never used their laptop whilst driving their cars. You know, like these days you see people using their phones at the wheel (not including those stuck in traffic), but never did i ever see someone using a laptop.
Samsung Note 9 is a tablet for all intents and purposes and I use it as such. I write notes on it using Snote, nice feature that allows you to hand write your notes and send them out.

Not really.

In the Big Picture, ALL Atomizers are wicked the Same. Stuff something in a Coil and away you go.

But in an RTA (verses a RDA) the way you wick is Also how you control Leaking. And how you Prevent Dry Hits.

I've begun shying away from RTAs and using mostly RDAs these days. Both for DTL and MTL.

Once I began squonking, building, wicking and maintaining RDAs just seems much more simple. They only thing I can do wrong with an RDA is possibly need to adjust coil placement. No issues with leaking, dry hits, etc that I have to figure out specific wicking for.

I still use RTAs here/there, but very infrequent for me these days. I like the Ammit RDA for MTL. I like a loose MTL or slightly restricted DTL vape though. Most of my MTL vaping these days is with a bottom fed RDA. I also use the Vapefly Galaxies RDTA (with or without squonk mode) quite a bit.

I still like my RTAs despite taking up squonking. It's just nice to have different options so I don't get bored.

Absolutely.

Having an RDA on a Squonker at home as well as RTA on a Small Mod for when I'm out-an-about is the Best of Both Worlds.

I also like to use an RTA when I'm down for the Evening watch TV or Reading in Bed.

Pretty sure an RTA is purpose built for mouth to lung, well alright, they used to be. Whereas an RDA is not. No RDA's that i know of are designed for mouth to lung.

Interesting though. An RDA for mouth to lung vaping isn't a bad idea i suppose. Low power, high ohm's. Just a topper without a tank.
There are plenty of rdas designed for mtl.

I'll have one of everything please. :D

Completely valid points above. Options are always good.

I'll be switching back to a standard non-squonk mod after I get back from my holiday travels. Haven't done anything but squonk for several months, so it will be a nice change of pace.

Have a few mods that I haven't used yet, and a few RTAs that are also still in the box. Looking forward to building the Elevate and going back to a (restricted) DL vape for a little while on a new RTA.

It's ridiculous that no matter how happy I am with my current gear, I still try new stuff when it comes out. Part curiosity and part hobby. Nevermind the fact that it looks like I hoard vape gear if someone who doesn't know me looks in my office, lol.

Well, maybe I'll take TWO of everything. Haha

The Galaxies RDTA or Ammit RDA are incredible on an OG Pico Squeeze. Nice and tiny for out and about (for me). An LG HG2 battery, and the Galaxies RDTA tank (plus the juice from the Squeeze) lasts me longer than a day as an ADV. Nice and tiny, but powerful vape for MTL use. Fill it up and replace the battery in the AM and I'm good to go all day.

I keep one of my Galaxies set up with the non-squonk pin so I can use it as an RDTA on my non-squonk devices. It's a very flexible atty to me.

The only MTL RTA I have in my collection is the Siren V2. All of my other RTAs are DL toppers.

I am missing DL though. I don't usually mix/match that. I'm either vaping MTL or DL for a while once I switch off.

well, I've recently acquired a Provi 2.5 Dragon so naturally, I had to order a Dvarw....well, actually two of them along with the rest of the bits and bobs. I guess mail from Hungary will take a while but I can wait. The thing that bugs me now is the slight cone shaped top ring on the Provi, I've not been very lucky in finding a regular top ring for it and buying a lathe, learning how to use it and making a ring seems a bit too much even for me.

Honestly !, i believe that a chimney's only function is to keep the tank full of liquid seperate from the coil assembly. That's the only practical use it has as far as i can see. People can say what they want but it's a fundamental aspect of an RTA's design. If chimney's coincidentally changed how vapour was produced i'd say that particular design aspect would have been applied to all types of devices which produce vapour.

Some RDA manufacturers would have been making these devices for years.

So RDA's don't have chimneys because they don't have a tank to bypass. And RDA's don't have chimney's because chimneys don't make any difference to anything vapour related.

The diameter of a "drip tip", however, is an altogether different story. But that would only change the amount of vapour produced by allowing more or less suction.

It's your first tank, built by somebody else. Don't. You're just starting out. Don't question the seasoned builders.

Lol I wasn’t questioning it. There’s a reason I asked ;) but if your answer is oh rda is this and rta is that (which i obviously know) thats not a correct answer and your underestimating someone. It’s really easy to answer like someone already did. Cheers
