what exactly is a Hybrid and how does it work?

I have seen this term quite a bit and have tried to research it on my own for a while now. My best guess from reading is that it is some kind of self feeding dripping atomizer set up? If that is the case how can that work? I have seen hybrids that are box mods that you put a 3-5ml bottle in the box and a tube gets inserted into the bottle. How does it feed? It would seem to my engireer's mind tyhat you would have to have a negative pressure system but if thats the case how doi you control the flow of the system such that it only feeds when desired and the negative pressure environment stays stable and at constant psi?

of course I could be totally wrong on the mechanics of this set up but from limited pictures that seems the logical guess. I suppose OTHER methods as well, I wish I could find detailed pictures from all relavent angles and areas

The term Hybrid is used loosely. Check here for a hybrid atomizer

A hybrid mod is one where the atty tank is attached to the mod. It's a single unit.

The box mods that carry a 3 - 6ml bottle are bottom feeders and are not hybrids.

A hybrid atomizer can also be a rebulidable atty that can use ss mesh or silica/cotton setups, but mostly the term 'hybrid' refers to hybrid mods.
