I have been influenced greatly by the collective information here on ECF. I was initially swayed by another reviewer on the web in my purchases of what I now think of as beginner equipment, and they did keep me off cigarettes but did not meet my needs. That other grl also did not seem to even mention bottom feeders (or if my memory serves correctly, it was not readily available information)

My needs were:
One device for all vaping situations - meaning that it had to be durable, compact, pocketable and not look like a chrome toothbrush.
A device with all day battery life - im guessing that there are many of those type of devices.
A delivery system that was more durable and compact than the tank system I was using at the time - I was also tiring of filling cartos.

I was so close to buying a "vivi nova mini" to fit on my inferno battery, and who knows from there, perhaps a lit up chrome sonicare to vape off? Thank god that after listening to my needs, i was pointed in the direction of bottom feeders. Once i looked at them, the choice was clear and I got a REO. Love it. It met or exceeded all my needs and far exceeded my quality and fabrication expectations. So much that I bought another to keep as a backup (should be here tomorrow), because i would not even consider vaping off of any other device, i don't care how good it vapes. I don't need anything that vapes better than my REO mini 2.0 and if I want to experiment with some VV, I would get a VV Grand.

    Congrats on three years!

At only a year & a half I'm a relative newcomer to vaping, but I'm also one of those that just has to try everything (just in case I'm missing something) So I've spent way to much only to discover that I can get just as enjoyable a vape from a $2.20 PV that I made myself as I can get from any PV on the market. Yet I still find myself looking for the newest 'latest & greatest' (just in case I'm missing something)

My biggest influence was a device that was safe , rugged, well made with a good warranty and after sale customer service. Then I looked for something that was unique and stylish not too bulky or that looked "odd"( I wont get into details, but im sure some of you know what I mean) . Also wanted to be able to get an all day battery life. I wanted a black PV and there was not too many that offered that and the criteria. I researched and came up with the Saber Touch, I asked and posted on here and came up with some the usual responses, most of which were "get a Provari", I know its a wonderful unit , but it wasnt "speaking" to me.

Dont get me wrong and dont slam me, but I didnt want a variable voltage device. I wanted something different. I feel in love with the Saber and havent regretted it since. It suits me well, size , comfort , performanc, simple and elegant. It was fully customizable and got to order the colour, finish, etc. Got it kicked and it cant make me happier. So much so I have another one on its way.

As to juice delivery, my basic tried and true have been boge cartos in various pyrex and unique tanks from various makers. Phiniac, kir fanis, IBTanked, Triple V. Ive tried various RBAs which were nice but nothing got me away from the ease and reliability of the carto/tank. I can take it anywhere, put it on its side, upside down no worries. I have only recently tried one system that has taken the carto/tank from its pedestal.

I got an Odysseus from GG. I wanted to get something that would be better made and last a lifetime, easy to set up with out too much fiddling. The Ody is just that for me. I love it. Taste and vapour production are outstanding. I dont like a strong TH so it is perfect. I tried various Genesis devices and though wonderful and beautiful the taste was a bit on the strong side and too warm for my needs. My Sabers and my Ody are the perfect combination. I will always use cartos and tanks, I have beautiful tanks and will always use them. I like the option and some of my favourite juices still taste better in carto/tank

Of couse I left out the biggest influence, the great people here on ECF. So many wonderful individuals who listened to my needs and what I didint like and guided me to the above choices. I came a long way from the cig-alike device that I started with and my KGOs will always be with me.

Congrat Pianoguy on your three years of vaping :toast:

I'd heard of ecig but I hadnt given trying one much thought. I figured they were something that didnt work very well and were just a passing fancy;) A couple years later I was planning for an upcoming cruise and was surfing a cruise forum I frequent when I saw a discussion on ecigs. That got me to thinking that an ecig might me a good idea to try to use when smoking wasnt convenient. I had no plans to quit smoking just use it when it might be more convenient then smoking. I sent a message to the lady on the cruise forum asking a few questions and she was kind enough to answer all my questions. Based on her recommendation I decided to order a Joye 510 model. I though she was crazy when she recommended I order juice that was not tobacco flavored  Between ordering and when it arrived I got to thinking some more and decided based on what she had told me that it might be a good idea to try to stop smoking. If I wasnt successful I had nothing to loose and if I did succeed I'd be giving up a habit I thought I was stuck with for the rest of my life. Got my first Joye 510 and smoking became part of my past forever

I entered vaping when the FDA was seizing customs packages and the court battle was raging. Not knowing what the outcome would be I quickly decided I needed to be sure I could continue to vape for at least a year while I attempted to completely quit if need be so I collected a stash of 510's and attys and juice to see me though a year.

I ordered my first Ego's two months after I started because I wanted longer battery life. A month later I got curious and ordered my first mod, a Roughstack out of curiousity as to if I liked a HUGE mod or not

As so many here do I caught the modbug from there. After reading every night here on ECF I decided I wanted to try vv vaping so after researching for a couple months I ended up ordering in Infinity from Notcigs. I fell in love with vv vaping. A few months later my curiousity got the best of me and I decided I wanted to try a bottom feeder for convenience so I ordered a Hogmod bottom feeder and still love it and use it regularly when I leave the house. I'll not bore you with all the APV's I've bought to try but I have enjoyed them all. If I had to do it all again I might not purchase all of them but I dont regret anything I've purchased a long the way.

Today I've got a descent collection of APV's but I find myself enjoying my Hogmod most often when I leave my house. At home I switch between my Zenesis Mini, which was my first attempt at using a rebuildable atty, my Buzz Pro either with a ZAP or a good old 510 atty which I drip with and still find my favorite way to vape when I'm at home. I still love my all mechanical Omega. I've really enjoyed the Ego twist and find myself using it often with a variety of juice delivery methods.

After all this time I've finally lost my desire to try new stuff. I'm extremely content with what I have. I enjoy variety in vaping so I like having different models to use when the need strikes me. I have thought about adding a Reo to my collection because it is all mechanical and should last forever but right now my funds need to go to other things so only time will tell if a Reo is in my future or not.
I consider myself lucky that abt 4 months into vaping I realized I'd lost my addiction to nicotine. I can use it or not without suffering any "give me my nic" fits when I choose to use 0 mg juice which I do often. I don't know if I'll ever stop vaping or not. I do know that as long as I have the ability to vape there is NO chance I will ever return to smoking :) Without the help of ECF I dont think this would have been possible. This is an awesome community that has played a huge part in my overall success with giving up smoking and staying smoke free. :)

I find it very frustrating because most sites...

    1) Have bad pics. One shot of a tube with no reference to how big or how it fits together = no purchase.
    2) Bad description of product. Does it work with ego? 808? Are you kidding? Are batteries included?
    3) That do not provide links to extra parts needed. For example, 'battery not included' and 'not all 18650 batteries fit' but does not say this one will work nicely! .... g-bye!
    4) Badly organized. Where's the battery section?! Do I really have to click on each product to see it - and not just once but 2 times to actually see your product that you want $250 for? Could you just hide the overpriced nonsense in the first place?

Unfortunately, it is rare to find an e-cig site that actually wants to sell their product.
