To use a STM on a mech, not only do you need a top cap with an adjustable firing pin, you also need to ensure that the top cap does not allow enough lateral play with the pin to make accidental contact with the threads of the 510 and that the pin is narrower than the 510 positive.

Would the average person in the street type vaper know this?

This has always been one of my peeves.

If it makes you feel any better, my Geyser is a no-go with hybrid style tops anyway. Adusting the center pin out far enough to clear the 510 takes it out of contact with the hot posts of the atty.

Fussy to build, but it's a sweety once dialed in on a mod not requiring a protruding center pin. Yours sounds shagged though. On the bright side, it's a $20 atty.

I'd feel better if there were single coil tanks with adjustable center pins I could use this with this thing. Unfortunately, everything I find with an adjustable pin is either a dripper, a dual/quad coil contraption or a combination of those two.

:D glad I could help.
Ended up spending a little more and ordered this Squape clone instead:

Squape RS Style RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer w/ 5 x Additional Deck - Silver, 316 Stainless Steel, 4.0mL, 22mm Diameter - 3FVape

A couple of the youtube reviews I watched on the Angel Cigs version were not too favorable and one guy actually had serious leaking issues around the tank part itself. o_O
The one I ordered came up in a couple of ECF discussions, so I went with it.

You definitely got me going in the right direction though! :)

I buy a lot of mine and my hubby's stuff from angelcigs and 88evape, one because they are both in Cali and two they are cheap enough and have relatively good customer service. Shipping is super fast from 88 and they have a working phone number, which is a plus in my book.
I've spent over $500 in gear from angelcigs, we've had a piece or two that didn't work out, but I contacted them and was able to show pics to get store credit on another item they had in stock.
If you find a store you've never used, don't hesitate to ask about their rep, most of us do mostly online shopping :)
It's cheaper for me, we live 35 miles from the closest town with a real grocery store and Walmart lol
:)

I do most of my stuff online as well...... Mainly because I don't like waiting in line. :D
I was just kinda jumpy about that one after seeing the guy's review with liquid leaking out the sides around the tank glass. He posted about it here on the forum as well.

DO NOT buy the AC-R (Angelcigs Squape-R clone)

If you're still looking around, the Cthulhu v2 comes with two decks, a single coil similar to the rba deck of the subtanks and a velocity style dual coil deck.... And it has an adjustable center pin.... And I use mine on two different mechs without a center pin, have since it was released....
That looks like a good one as well.
I'll keep that one in mind if I don't like the Squape clone.

There's a thread here in the RTA subforum about it.... It does have some quirks for some and some have QC issues, but I've only had one leak with mine during filling and it was user error....

The Cthulhu v1 was my first RTA and I jumped on the v2.... I went from the protank 2 mini to rdas and I had a few recommendations on here for the v1 months ago when I was looking for a RTA.... The only time I drip now is when testing out my DIY liquids or a new coil design....
The last week, I've been using a subtanks mini more than the v2 only because it is new to me, but I prefer the vape I get from my Cthulhu, even single coil....
