What is life expectancy of E-Liquid / E-Juice?

Hmm, a bottle of juice has a life expectancy in my house of about two days. ;)

I do have several bottles of juice that fell out of favor with my taste buds that have been in a drawer for a couple of years. Every once in a while I pull it out and try some. It actually gets better with age. As long as there's no off smell from excessive oxidation, it's fine.

Yep, once I get rolling it does seem to go fast. The problem is that I've bought around 1,800ml of E-Liquids in one month. I'm trying out a vast number of manufacturers to find the best 25 juices. Will post the sheet containing reviews of what I think in about another month.

I buy pg, VG, nic and flavors separately.

PG I buy 5kg (approx 5 liter) at a time which lasts me about a year. I usually transfer a liter a time to smaller bottles so it isn't opened often but it smells and tastes the same on day 1 as it does at the end of the year. I suppose you can keep it even way longer. It does not turn color etc.

VG goes of quicker I noticed. Starting to smell off after 10-12 months or so. Stored in brown bottles else it turns color. I guess if you have high VG liquids , I'd be more careful and stick to a year or so.

Pure nic, kept away from air remains clear and does not seem very much time affected when stored cool and dark but I never buy more than 50-100ml at a time so not really sure over real long time periods. Its still a natural product so I guess it degrades.

Flavors is hard to say. Guess most artificial flavorings should outlife you. The more natural ones prob half a year or more.

Most importantly is to clean and steralize your bottles and tools when mixing and transferring liquids. Can easily be done boiling items or using alcohol for those that don't take heat. Nothing spoils liquid so quickly as a 'dirty' bottle.

YOU are where I may be headed. I'm finding this entire hobby to be worthwhile.

Its just practical...
If you want a high nic batch, like I like to have for work, just mix it.
If you want a high VG mix cause you're in the mood for clouds, etc

Few pointers...if you get around to it.

Please be very, very careful with pure nic. Use gloves and make sure not to expose skin. Some advice safety glasses but im not trying to throw it in at a distance so... leave that up to you.

Always mix nic at high quantities of liquid, like 1 ltr. Don't try to mix a 10 ml bottle. Being off with pure nic by 0.2 ml on a liter does not matter much, off by the same on 10ml is killing... Flush everything that came in to contact with nic with loads of water before taking of your gloves.

I prefer to make my base on pure VG, as I always want VG in my mix but not always pg, with high nic level (say 60ml/ltr). You can later mix this to nearly any desired mix of pg/vg at any strength nic by just mixing it with pure pg or VG. That way you only need to mess with pure nic once in a while.

Work clean and tidy, clean up any spill before continueing.
Have your materials clean and ready before you open your pure nice and again, be careful!

Flavors added at the end of course, once you have your desired base.

Flattery will get you everywhere HM :)

It's been a while since I read Rolygate's post but luckily I bookmarked it. It seems putting juice in the freezer is good, just refrigeration can be bad.

Also, post #4 in that thread has some great info in it.
Not right. Water is not going though walls (but oxygen can). Bacterial growth in a bottle with PG will not happen.
Do not see any serious difference between refrigerator and freezer, except that freezing is better because all degradation goes slower. Have no idea about flavors (some organic stuff does not like freezing, but only some).

According to manufacturers shelf life of USP glycerin in unopened container is at least 2-3 years (was not tested for longer time).

At work I have a bottle (1L) of glycerine 15+ years old, many times opened. Still clear and no odor. Not USP, but good enough for dry hands (tested periodically).

They just do not know (I mean NudeNicotine). They did not test it. They just are trying to be on safer side. I expect my nicotine (no flavorings of course) to be good for at least 10 years.

As you open and close it several times then put it back not sealed ? your right those chemist at nudenic no nothing ..............

? And do NN has a chemist?

EDIT. OK, a bit of reasoning.
I still have a nicotine bought about 1.5 years ago. Stored in clear bottle, in desk drawer, opened many times, just a bit left on a bottom. I tested it about 3 month ago. It is yellowish, more peppery, but still usable. I think if it were stored unopened in dark place at room temperature it still be almost like new. Rule of thumb in chemistry: decreasing temperature by 10 degrees Celsius slows speed of chemical reaction in half. Difference between room temperature and freezer temperature is about 40 degrees C, so everything will be slower 16 times. So, if at room temperature I can keep nicotine for 1 year, in a freezer it should be good for 16 years.

Not right. Water is not going though walls (but oxygen can). Bacterial growth in a bottle with PG will not happen.

I also doubt there is much to the water passing through plastic. From decades of experience with plastic moulding I know all plastic absorbs some water, but not much and very little will actually pass through.

The second point is interesting. Microbes will not grow easily in PG or VG, but Roly's point was about water vapor condensing inside the bottle.

Ultimately though, some people have had juice go bad in the fridge so it can happen for whatever reason. Considering juice is good for at least a year at room temperature it wouldn't bother me much. Freeze it and take out a years supply at a time :thumb:
