If you don't mind a couple of buttons, that opens things up. Single button units are often bypass devices, so the vape will diminish with the battery's charge. I'm fairly sure the Ikonn Total is a bypass device.

You can usually lock the settings on adjustable mods, so set-and-forget is a possibility. An istick pico with something like a nautilus X isn't much bigger than the Ikonn, but far more flexible.

The pod suggestion's a good one - some are fixed output.

But most pods aren't fixed output. The fact is you can take your mod, press and set the buttons once, and then not worry about it. Just because I only watch CSPAN doesn't mean I'll only buy a TV with that as the only channel so there's no channel selection buttons.

Granted, that doesn't exist, but I'm trying to make some sort of comparison.

My current favorite vape is my ego type batteries. But mine are all variable voltage. 1 ego C twist, power is adjusted by twisting the the bottom end of the battery. 2 Evod VV batteries with 4 power levels, changed by clicking the fire button 3 times.

I have several 18650 tube mods and you're right, they are tall, heavy and obnoxiously clumsy to use.

If you really want to change your vape style to that of a human fog machine the ikonn may be for you?

I really think that in today's market the best bet for replacing your egos and retaining your current vape style is with a pod system. I've had my eye on them for some time.

Recently won this pod. And I'm quite excited to get my hands on it. Vaporesso Renova Zero All-in-One Vape Pod System

You will have to give up your oddesy tank tho. Now the very next post is going to tell you the horrors of getting stuck in the trap of buying replacement pods and the millions of dollars you'll waste on them. I call BS! The refillable pods cost 3 bucks each and IF they last a week, that's nothing. As a matter of fact that is exactly what the replacement coils each cost for my current clearos when they were the latest and greatest. With the pods ya get a brand new tank every time ya replace the coil. The real concern is hoping you pick a system that won't disappear in a few weeks.

Is there anything similar to this but smaller that only fits around an 18650 size battery?

The ephro Armor isn't gigantic really but it is heavy. It also has an 18650 adaptor so you can lose some of the battery weight if you want. I own one and like it, and yes it is semi-protected although I tend to exercise care with mine and don't take it out of the house. It's certainly larger and heavier than many other tubes style setups, and I think there may be other reasons that it's not THE BEST out of the house mod (although that is more my opinion) but you can make it work with a smaller battery and it will probably weigh down a pocket either way, but IDK if that will be enough to bother you.
I'd probably recommend the ephro 101 in this instance I believe it is more complicated but there's only one button to press, so if you get to the settings you want, you can kind of set and forget I would guess. It doesn't meet your actual requirements but in some ways it might be a better choice, just a thought.

I'm looking for:
  • easily replaceable battery,
  • 2-3ml tank that's easy to fill and maintain,
  • something on the smaller side that'll fit in my pocket next to my cell phone or in a small holster and no fancy variable anything.
  • something durable as it sits in my pocket all day while I'm working construction.

This is my daily vape. It's not really a box mod or a tube, but falls somewhere in between. JAC Vapor series B DNA75W It is extremely well made and durable. In addition, JAC Vapour has excellent customer support. 6 month warranty, but they will do repairs at cost if necessary post warranty.

I use an 18650 Samsung 30Q 3000mAH 15A battery which lasts me nearly a full day of use.

The mod uses a magnetic battery door for easy battery replacement.

I use an Original Uwell Crown Clearomizer Tank. Easy top fill. The Mini version (shorter tank) holds 2 ml; the regular size (taller) holds 4 ml. Coils last me 4 weeks of use.

This setup fits very easily in nearly any kind of pocket and its curved edges are very comfortable in your hand. I rarely change the setting, almost always set at 30 watts. Once you find your preferred setting, just leave it there. It does have a rather sensitive fire button, so I always disable it (5 clicks) when it goes into my pocket, which you should do with any type of battery device anyway. 5 clicks to turn it back on and vape.

A shorter, squatter tank than the Crown would decrease the overall length of the setup. The 25mm sandstorm version of the DNA75W can accomodate up to a 25mm tank diameter.

My setup requires little maintanance. Fully charged battery and juice topoff every morning. Depending upon how much I vape during the day I may top off the tank again. That's it.

Great posts all! You've been really helpful. I feel a sense of direction now. Might have to own more than one rig soon o_O

JAC Vapor series B DNA75W puts it's circuitry next to the battery instead of on top of it making it shorter than my current eGo battery with 3.5ml tank set up. Should fit well in my pocket though adjustments may have to be made cause it's wider. I like that it sticks with the smaller 18650 batteries instead of the larger 20700 keeping it as narrow as possible. Not sure on the tank yet but I might be looking for something more durable than the one posted. Stainless steel wrapped pyrex has only broken on me once in 6 years and I drop it maybe once a month. This is probably what I'm going to... seems kind of hard to buy in the US?

TW has one: https://www.totallywicked-eliquid.com/buzz-e-cig-kit-and-e-liquid

I like the vape pod. Those things look like they'd fit well in a pocket. 650mAh batteries never lasted very long for me though. The 1000mAh battery/pods are larger, twice the price of eGo replacement batteries and way more then the cost of an 18650.

JAC Vapour Sandstorm with a 22mm Zenith.

You can set it up as simple as you want or do a bunch of tweaks and it isn't much larger than an 18650 battery.

If not for the replaceable battery comment I'd say a Rover X by Aspire with either Nautilis tank or a Zenith. That's my pocket pistol at the construction site.

I don't think it's been mentioned but VV devices are often very simply one button devices with a potentiometer. The Dovpo MVV has served me well but I would get the Dovpo VEE if I were to buy one now - that wasn't available when I wanted a VV device. The VEE has more buttons as the MVV only has fire and a dial you turn but with low resistance coils minute movements to that dial greatly affects the output wattage so the VEE seems a little more precise. In fact I'm rather tempted to get one anyway because it looks pretty sexy haha
