i really, really love the stainless steel cartomater tanks from vaperfexion. solid, beautiful, reliable.
then there's the big daddy and little mamma from big daddy vapor. those are super solid, and won't leak.

thing is...a tank is a tank is a tank. it's a matter of style and reliability. i still use my plain ol' dct smok tanks every now and then, too. obviously, i'm talking exclusively about carto tanks here. i used to swear by the vivi nova and vivi nova minis, but i moved up from an ego twist to a bigger, more powerful pv, and i've had no luck with wick based tanks since making the switch. so, i'm sticking with carto tanks, personally. however, if you like the wick style tanks, vivi novas are great, even if they do suck up juice really fast.

Can someone make a suggestion or two AND tell me where I can get the things? Oh, and they should be compatible with apollo eGo batteries. Thanks!

It's not the tanks you are using but much more likely the battery *combined* with the tanks. The Apollo is basically just a rebranded eGo. Keep the Apollos as backups (buy some more CE4s?) and then buy something with VV (variable voltage) which will allow you to make the most out of the different tanks you already have, specifically being able to adjust voltage for the different impedance of the tanks/heads. I recommend a Vision Spinner or Ego Twist. Both are basically the same battery as your Apollos but have a dial on the bottom allowing you adjust the output voltage.

This is an excellent package that you can basically customize to your heart's content. Once you go VV you very likely won't want to go back to fixed voltage devices, except in emergencies ;)

I stared off with a clearomizer, loved them until I grew tired of them leaking and breaking so I moved on to the vivinovas. Fell in love....until I grew tired of the all dreaded burnt taste, so I searched for an alternative and discovered a simple poly tank with carto. I love a tank and carto. Never a burnt taste and never a leak. The flavor is also so much pronounced to me.

i have several egos as backups for my "bigger" pv's. sometimes, it's just easier to carry around something smaller and more discreet than a big boy, like the provari or the bombshell stinger. the twists/spinners are great, and you can get away with clearos while using them. not so much on a provari, at least for me. i have been using the vapeonly bcc on my twist for the past day or so, and i'm getting decent satisfaction out of it. the wife and i are going to disney this week, and i don't want to chance the mickey police calling me out and throwing me down in the land of nod for pulling out my provari in a smoking section. i would use a cig a like, like the v2 or something, but i just don't get enough "oomph" from it. there is nothing wrong with those twist/spinners, though-they're what got me into this in the first place, and i still use them, even though i've got plenty of other choices, thanks to impulse buying and an odd attraction to shiny things that go puff.

really, i think carto tanks work best-prime the carto (punch it first if it isn't pre punched), get it nice and soaked, slide it in the tank, fill and vape. if you're a fiend, a 3-5 ml tank should get you through the day. some are prone to slide up on the carto, and accidents can happen, so keep that in mind when you're shopping around. the locking tanks are good, but you add the extra height with the airflow thingy. vivi novas and such are great for ego/twist style batteries, but anything bigger and more powerful might push them a bit too far and burn them. fill a carto tank properly, and you'll be set.

I'm really liking the Mini Vivi Novas I recently got -- they perform significantly better than the CE4+ clearos I have, and light years better than the ego-T and ego-C tank cartridge + atomizer systems (frankly, these suck).

The downsides of the Mini Vivi Nova are small, but slightly annoying. One, they're very heavy -- so much so that they change the balance of the overall e-cig a lot, making it top heavy, which is a bit uncomfortable. And two, they're far wider than eGo batteries, so I worry about putting pressure on them when they're laying flat on a surface.

I really enjoy my AGA-Ts (v1 & -T2) & AGR carto-tank. Just got in on another -T2 & AGR actually & a grip of Boge prepunched (standard & XL). I never thought anything would dethrone my AGA-Ts but I really like the AGR (once you add another o-ring to stop the flooding).

ViVi Nova is retired. I was thinking of breaking it back out the other day...needs a cleaning & new wick. Also have a few CE4s & a ReDux that don't get used much (no eGo adapter & I don't use those batts much these days).

But that is the limit of my tank experience.

"This is an excellent package that you can basically customize to your heart's content. Once you go VV you very likely won't want to go back to fixed voltage devices, except in emergencies ;)" - Oktyabr

Thanks a million for that. Straightforward advice which I plan to heed. The only reason I haven't graduated to VV is because it seems too technical to me. But if it can help make the tanks I have work better - hot damn.

PS - I notice a LOT of Kanger advocates on here, so I went to quantum vapor and got a Kanger Pro Tank. I wanted some liquid to commemorate the purchase, and I noticed they make you choose the PG/VG ratio. I had no idea, so I chose 60/40. Does anyone know what the "normal" ratio is in the fluid one buys at a local smoke shop, say, or off of the Apollo website? Is 60/40 in the ballpark?
