I only quit analogs a month ago. But I find I'm vaping pretty much 24/7 when at home, from the time I get up to when I go to bed. I've decided that is just way too much. When I smoked analogs I didn't spend near that much time on them. So I decided to allow myself to only vape the last 15 minutes of every hour (Not sure I can keep to that). That is still 1/4 of my waking hours, but it's a start. (Ego bat, Clearomizer, 18-24mg juice).

If your trying to cut down vaping what is your strategy?

I quit cigarettes on Feb 12, 2011. I tried to stick to my 1 hour between smoke time and it did not work for me. I find I vape more to get the nic fix. Sometimes I use a cartomizer with just VG and flavor, I can vape when I just want something to do with my hands. I use 30mg juice alternated with 24 for my serious vaping time.
I found not worrying about it too much helps.

I found out that the addictive properties in cigarettes feel very different than the nicotine dependency in vaping. After over a year of vaping, I am able to curb the need as necessary- such as when I was very, very sick. I went for days without feeling like I wanted to crawl out of my skin. I could not have done that when I was smoking. I think they key for cutting back, for me, was to slowly lower the mg over time and find juices that deliver the experience without necessarily relying on high nic. Menthols, cinnamons, colas, etc can produce a more agressive mouth feel and throat hit, allowing you to feel quite satisfied on a much more reduced level of nic. I am currently around 8-10 and know that I could be at 4 or 6 if I wanted to. I find that the nic does add a certain characteristic to flavor, so 4-6mg juice doesn't taste as good to me, so I am happy sticking <10. This, of course, is my own personal opinion. I am not sure you have to cut back on the amount of vaping you do, but can find very easy ways to reduce your nic intake and still feel satisfied.

I believe that creating a bunch of rules around vaping would have destined me to return to analogs.

I enjoy the act of smoking and the amount of nic in e-juice is nothing compared to cigs and then you add in the 4,000 chemicals in the "stinkies" and it's a no-brainer for me. Vape or die a slow stinkie death.

I have cut down the strength of nic as the months have gone by (36mg to now 12mg) lowering the nic levels in the e-juice. Since my all day every day vape is a TWDV juice, I buy the 36mg nic juice and then add pg/vg and some TWDV flavoring to bring it down to 12mg and keep the flavor.

I believe that giving myself permission to vape my head off has taken me to the place where I could care less about the stinkies anymore...not in the morning, not after meals, not in my car, not in bars, not around those that still smoke, not in times of stress, not before I go to bed, not after sex etc.

Good luck on your quest!!!! Vape On!!!

i agree with you 100%. i allow myself to vape non-stop when i feel the need, but i do lower my mg to match so i dont get over-nicced.

I stopped smoking and started vaping a year ago on March 6th. I vape as much as I want and have no plans to quit. My new "habit" runs about $35 to $50 a month. I've tried lower nic juices and then went back to my standard 24. It's one of those "aint broke so why fix it" deals. I'm successfully off cigarettes and enjoy vaping instead.

Mission accomplished after 36 years of trying.

Maybe I'll quit vaping someday ... but right now ... I have no idea why I'd ever want to.

I now make sure I only have one PV in my hand at a time, this has cut me down a lot.

If that doesn't work, when the clouds of vape suck my eyeballs out with their humectant properties that's my 'cue' to slow down.

On the flip side, if I can look through the smog and still see my wife then its time to pull out the LR atties....

I didn't mark the date when I quit using tobacco. I can't say for sure how long I've been vaping. I don't know when or if I'll stop vaping. I don't spend much time looking back, and I don't spend much time speculating about tomorrow. That's not for me.

I will say something I've said on the forum before. The only evidence I have that I could probably quit vaping if I decided I want to is this: When I was smoking, if I left for work and realized half way there I forgot my smokes at home, I would experience a moment of great stress and then would head for the nearest convenience store to get a pack regardless of whether or not that would make me late for work. - I've left my PV on my desk more than once, realized it in the car, and simply decided to pick it up at lunch. I experience no stress. I can go without vaping and I can be without my PV. When I was smoking, even being low on cigarettes sucked. Now that I'm vaping, my habit doesn't involve that sort of stress.

I was committed to smoke myself to death--hopelessly addicted to cigarettes. Vaping just might be a get out of jail free card. I have no plans, thoughts or desire to stop vaping. I'm content with not smoking which is the same as all or nothing as far as I'm concerned.

yep, all joking aside these things are a life saver. I tell people I can vape til I'm 199yrs old without it killing me and unless they find a cure for lung cancer thats what I intend to do.

For people who could NOT kick the fags no matter how hard they tried (me, and you from the sounds of it) or even those peeps that enjoyed it beyond the fear of death - pv's are the solution.

If you can quit fags on patches puffers or hypno, then you don't need e-cigs and should stay away. If you can't then its use these or die.

Mr. Smith, you said you've decided you're vaping way too much. What made you decide that? How important is that? Are you sick from excess vaping?

Myself, I've decided to vape as much as I want, whenever it's possible and I chain vape. I smoked a pack a day (and up) for forever and ever so I figure if I vape 24/7 from now until eternity, I'm still good. I started out vaping very low nic because I already knew smoking was about the rituals for me, not the nic. And vaping is enough like smoking that I could and did make the leap but NOT enough like it that I can vape about the same as smoking and still be satisfied. At this point, I'm so thrilled to not be smoking and all that entailed, that I've no current thoughts to push myself further.

No, I'm not sick from vaping. Nor am I sick of vaping. I enjoy it. But eventually, I'd like to be just an occasional vaper. I don't want to feel like I have to, to keep from smoking (like now). I'd like to knock it down to 2 or 3 times a week, perhaps after a harrowing day at work or during stressful moments, as opposed to lighting up. Funny, I have no craving for a cig now; but if I quit vaping I know I would be tempted.
I also still have some trepidation about vaping. There are no reports sayings it is unsafe, but none saying it is safe. I know in my heart that it is much safer than analogs which is why I do it. But still....I figure limiting my exposure would be best. I also have titanium posts for teeth implants and I'm not sure how that effects things as far as having a healthy mouth.
Besides, Buddha says choose the "middle way", no extremes.

To recap:
1. I don't want to be a slave
2. I still have some health concerns
3. Buddha says not to go to extremes.
:) :) :)

Health concerns? You smoked and now you are concerned about vaping? Really? A) I'm not a slave, I can go all day without vaping--never could do that with analogs. B) I had health realities, not concerns. That's why I quit smoking. C) Budda is not my god and I thank my god for that. I'm not willing to tolerate a moderate amount of murder, child molestation and rape, maybe Budda is but I'm not. I guess we covered all three fronts...
