OMG! Stephanie - what a tragedy!

I miss my white shepherd he was the best dog ever, had him with me for 11 years. Pack of 5 pit bulls got in our yard and killed both him and the Pyrenees. I ended up moving cause after lossing them like that I just kept thinking what if the kids had been in the yard. 2 years ago and it still makes me sad to think about the white shepherds.

German Shepherds are the best dogs ever if you can get threw the first 2-3 years of ADHD that most of them seem to have.

Have a black shepherd now and shes' a mess but she's turning 2 soon so maybe she will settledown.

I wasn't planning on complaining about housework but, anyone who tells you to use vodka you wasted money on to clean carts works to clean the bathroom, pls report to me. I don't recall who gave me that bad advice but, it not only doesn't clean anything, it stinks to high heaven! (I had to go out and buy a floral scented cleaner, a LARGE febreeze and some poupeaurri (sp? sorry, I don't feel like looking up the word for dried, fragrant flowers in French right now.) before it didn't smell like I was getting smashed in the bathroom! Albeit, the open windows and fans)

What saves time? Nothing. lol! I have a routine and keep the floor for last. I have dogs too but one is staying w/ my sis and the things I find on the floor (mostly stashed cookies) my dog also drags onto my bed when I'm not home. It's a slight time saver when changing sheets since there's nothing but cookies all over the floor.

Don't know if this would help those with shedding dogs but, I vacuum mine with the attachments. I've been tempted to get one of those "As seen on TV" 'specialty' dog brushes that you put on the vacuum but the brush one does the same thing! My dog isn't going to make friends with the vacuum either way, but it does help. I save bath-time for last but don't wait even a minute after doing the floors (carpeting but I mean I steam clean sometimes - like every to every other month) My dog likes to take a nap after a bath-gets upset if I take off the towel. I change it for a dry one and throw her stuff in the laundry last. Seems to work. The other one is too energetic to trust around drying floors & gets a bath after the carpets are dry - doomed to sit in the laundry room til she dries - usually try to use a hair dryer. When we can afford it, both go to the groomers, otherwise only the smaller one goes since they have to. A time saver there is asking the groomer for a really short cut. For at least 4 wks, there's nothing to shed & is great in the summer!

Otherwise, I have no answers, just never hire a housekeeper who charges by the hour instead of the day. I learned the hard way and can't do that very often to begin with. They get nothing done as fast as someone who just wants to have a shorter day; got left having to a lot myself. 8-o)

One day I'll the extra $ to give myself a break again but, until then... I tend to only tidy things, minus dishes and the bathroom and, leave the rest for a once/wk big clean day. Maybe setting the clock back would help me feel like I've saved time?????

I hate having to do housework but, it's my favorite topic next to guys not helping in the least, to complain about.

Basically the ingredients to make homemade Febreeze are a mix of water and fabric softener.
Directions:

  • Unless otherwise noted, place ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well to mix. Test a small unnoticeable area first before using to make sure no discoloration or damage occurs. Use as needed, shaking well each time before use.

Break your leg like I did, and have everyone else do everything in the house and take care of you at the same time.
That never worked for me.. I had surgery on my leg and another time I broke both collar bones, my left shoulder and spiral broke my right arm at the same time and still had to mop the floor and clean up (even though nothing was "set")..

Anyone have a suggestion for shedding dogs? ...

Drowning in white puppy hair....Help!

I have two German Shepherds and a dachshund. Doxy doesn't need de-hairing, but the Shepherds surely do! Actually, some of the very best money I spend is to take them to the groomer every other month. I get them a deep brush, a bath, and their toenails trimmed... all for a grand total of $50. Well worth it. And they just love to go there! They love to ride, too, and they always come home very happy.

Hey I read about a tip to brighten your rugs or door mats dimmed by sunlight. You mix equal parts salt and very hot water until desolved. Then after vacuuming the carpet..dab/wash it on (once it is cool enough to handle) Use a microfiber rag..just dampend, not wet (or you won't be able to get the salt deposits back up) and let dry. then vacuume again.
I might try this on a rag rug I have.

Hi Wow

TipNut is vanfriggintastic!!

Don't forget to sign up for the newsletter too :)

No kidding! Water, baking soda and a wooden spoon - I finally got my microwave looking like new(!!) inside and that was all I had to do other than wipe it w/ a damp cloth! 60 seconds total time! :D

(I've been unplugging the thing, laying it on a towel, scouring it with dishsoap, rinsing & drying it, then having to put back on the counter and it still didn't get as clean!)

Unbelievable! :)
