I've been doing some reading about using cotton to rebuild wicks and I see that there are several kinds of cotton people are using:

1. Cotton balls
2. Rolled cotton
3. Square braided cotton wicks
4. Cotton butcher's twine

So which one of those are you using or are you using another kind? How does it perform? How long does it last? What size do you recommend? Please share your advice and tips!

Thank you for your opinions :)

I use the CVS Rolled Cotton (Sterile/USP) and have been for a year. With top-coil cartos/tanks, I've had a wick last for weeks. With Kanger bottom-coils, which I've been using lately, I've been changing the wick out every few days. With the top-coils it was easy to rinse the wicks and blot dry with a paper towel; not so easy with the bottom coils - plus it's simple to just re-wick.

Do you add top flavor wicks? Are there any problems with dry hits/flooding/leaking?

I use cotton balls, already had them and they work great. I think they came from the dollar store. I use it mainly in kanger evods and t3's and get about 10-15ml through a wick before changing it out. I don't use flavor wicks and only get dry hits if I have too much cotton stuffed in the coil. Same for leaking only when I use to little cotton in the wick, hardest part is finding this sweet spot. With a little practice maintaining these cotton wicks is now easier for me than changing carto's in a tank.

I do add one small cotton "flavor wick". Mainly because without it I was getting juice 'sputtered' up the air tube. I've had no flooding/leaking problems. With cotton you can't make the wick too thick - it just needs to be thick enough to slide easily into the premade coil - otherwise the coils may "choke" the wick and reduce wicking; which could lead to dry hits.

I use a cotton twine I found in a friends garage, its about 3/16"thick and works well on vivi novas ,Its probably from HD , I wrap tight with a 1/2 speaker wire as spacer ,6/5 wrap 2.8 ohm-ish 34g, I drill out the head to the dry size, it will over wick if I use something else for a day, but daily use, its great and consistant, never a dry hit
