Hey all,

My new tank and mod come in the next couple of days (Coolfire 4). I've only been using one of the cheap pen looking 'starter kits' prior to this and smoking analogues as the day wore on due to not having the same feel to it going down, hence ordering a better kit to see if that can change! (mouth 2 lung hitter)

The ejuice I use at the moment is about 18mg, occasionally 12mg (whatever my brother passes on pretty much!)

I don't really get a rush of nicotine, light headedness and such, every variation of mg doesn't really do different to the last for me (at least i don't noticeably feel it).

I keep reading that with the bigger sized mods people tend to use 3-6mg (which I have none of currently), I assume this is due to more vape coming out, would it be unwise to use 18mg, at least until I get some new flavors?

Thanks

I will assume you ordered a subtank of some type. 18 mg in a subtank will probably make you "nicotine sick". Search Results for Query: nicotine sick | E-Cigarette Forum

The rule of thumb is the better the equipment the more juice it will consume and the more nicotine you will ingest. Most people do cut back by half or more when moving into sub ohm tanks. (The lower ohm coil the more you will probably need to cut back)

Most subtanks are made/designed for lung hits. When I got my Subtank Mini's i first got a cheap more restrictive drip tip, because I am still a mouth to lung vape. I also like a tighter as opposed to airy draw, but you'll have to play to find your spot.

If you have a lot of juice you can buy the same flavor in zero nic and combine the two equally, it would drop the nicotine in half. 2 parts zero nic to one part 18 nic will give you 6 mg nic in juice.

Good luck in your journey.

Mainly the wattage at the atomizer determines nic strength on top of what you smoked as far as analogs.

1.5 to 1.8 ohm coil at 15watts and below for a Pack a Day full flavored kings, 12mg to 18mg will be good to keep you nicotine cravings down
About 20watts 12mg will be about where a PAD full flavor king smoker would need to be
At about 30watts a 6 to 9mg should be sufficient
60watts and above 3mg or so

I never really understand the ohms and such, a big worry about when I get mine and what setting to have it on incase anything goes tragically wrong! I got a protank mini 3 (cheap I know)

I'll probably drop to 6mg and buy a small one for a local (overpriced) vendor just to get started asap and then order some online

And I don't know how much I smoke a day, ecig during the day then probably 5/6 rollups in the evening

Thanks for the replies!

Hi, and welcome to the forum! If you are using a .5 ohm coil, why don't you start at 20-25 watts and mix your juice with something at 0mg. If that doesn't provide enough nic, add more of your higher nic juice. Just keep track of the ratios until you figure out what's enough. After what you've been using, 20-25 watts will be a significant increase. Once you get comfortable, increase your wattage (if you want to), and reduce your nic if you need to :)

The Cool Fire IV is a 40 watt box. It can be operated in voltage mode OR wattage mode. Wattage mode is easier, IMO; you can adjust more precisely in watts. With 1.5ohm coils, start at around 10 watts. Dial up in .2 watt increments until you like the vape - that is, the relative warmth and the flavor feel "right." The mod will work out the volts necessary to keep you at whatever wattage you select; you don't need to worry about it. Given 1.5 ohm coils, I'd suggest staying at whatever nic level you're already using. Don't go down until you feel like you don't want as much nic.

You may want to try a sub ohm coil, at some point. A sub ohm coil has a resistance of less than 1ohm. Most sub ohm coils that are commercially available are between .2 and .5ohms. The lower the resistance, the more power - the higher wattage - you will need. At .5ohms, you want 20-25 watts, give or take. At .2 ohms, you want a lot more. Try .5ohms before going any lower. If and when you do, remember to reduce your nic level.

Just a comment (that doesn't address your actually question): much of the "rush" one feels when smoking a tobacco cigarette isn't from the nicotine, it's the result of carbon dioxide in the blood stream - something that doesn't happen with vaping.

On my ego batteries and disposable tanks I used about 18mg nic eliquids. Now with my rda's and mods I'm using 6mg nic and it does just fine. I've used 12mg nic in my rda once and oh my god, it was a nic rush that made me break out sweating lol. I laughed and put that mod dddowwwwnnn, I'm not going to do that again.

If you go sub ohm and your putting out clouds I strongly recommend dropping to like 6 mg. It does a decent job of getting you that nicotine. Soon I might even drop to 3 mg nic just because If I can quit using nic completely then I've won. Although I will continue to vape 0mg nic and it's fun putting out clouds and tasting all the flavors.

Thank you for the replies, really helpful! This talk of Sub ohms, are the coils for that much more expensive and what's the difference? Why choose sub over regular

To me the coils were similar in price. I only use sub ohm coils, I feel that it's a better vape. Much better. If you do decide to try, I'd say to use a 3mg juice. Even 6mg for me was too much. Best of luck to you! Any questions, ask away.
