Starting out with Blu e-cigs. If I had read more on ECF and done my research, I think I might have started with something better.

Another: buying too much stuff - 808's, 306's, spinners, vv gripper, mvp, vamo... I could go on with cartos, clearos, BDC clearos, .. I think you get the picture. But so many choices, and I'm not sure I would have appreciated the things I like now had I not bought all this stuff.

Stockpiling coils that I later found were simple to rebuild and better after rebuiding.

Buying juices online is a total crap shoot unless you know exactly what you are buying. Some of the cute names may sound good but when you actually get them, not so much. I have a juice graveyard in my box. Better getting them where you can try before you buy.

I have often wondered why e-juice places do not offer sample packs of 1ml bottles for 10 dollars. I would pay that to find flavors I like

I bought the lowest quality PV starter kit possible for the same price I could have gotten something nicer. The tanks broke within the week.

Bought a really terrible liquid which smelled terrible, clogged my atomizer to death.

I replaced the tanks with Kanger TS3's which I have had nothing but frustration with. It seems my cheap-o 400mAh battery posts are up too high and make the O-rings extremely susceptible to overtightening. And then after taking great care to leave extra threads worth of space to save the o-rings, during a rinse a huge chunk of wick came out and it's leaking anyway.

Bought liquid blind via internet. Got more I didn't like. Got some I did like, but went flavorless in days.

Bought an iClear16. Yay! Hasn't broken yet. Performs just fine. Ordered an MVP 2. Hopefully I can start enjoying vaping soon.

nah man mistakes are a rite of passage!!

if you're not facepalming at least once a day then you're doing it wrong

Vaping is really an art form, its like a mechanic always tweaking his car.

as an example in the past 3 days I have built so many different types of coils. nano's, nano dragons, diamond (i hate that MOTHER f'er, such a pain to thread) micro's, regular, twist 2 wire, twisted three wire, all trying to find the build I like the most. great thing I only have one mod lol.

I listened to all the advice I was given and ignored it. Went from cig-a-likes to eGo's and clearomizers. Then I discovered the Vamo. It was the hot new thing and it could do so much more than the ProVari at a 1/4 of the price. So I bought two. One died within a month...along with several of the eGo's. I bought the first ProVari I came across on the classifieds, a two year old V1 model.

At this point I had invested $40 for a cig-a-like kit, $90 worth of eGo's, and another $40 for a Vamo, and all that stuff was either broken or useless. I could have bought a ProVari new for what I dumped into all that.

Within 6 months the other $40 Vamo died on me, as well as the few remaining eGo's I had left. If I had listened to the advice I read in the threads, I would have purchased quality over quantity and still had something to show for my money.

If anyone reading this thread wants my advice, I recommend buying a ProVari or a VV Reo Grand (if you want devices that will last for years). If you can't afford one of those, get an MVP (version 2.0) buy a ProTank or one of the other bottom coil clearomizers. Save the replaceable heads and learn to rebuild them, and buy a Kayfun Lite Plus or a good clone of one and learn to rebuild coils. It's easy to do and gives you far more control over your vape. And finally, read and learn, watch videos, and read and learn some more.

I have to say, my biggest mistake was thinking it was fine to vape indoors in public settings, I was so thrilled (when I finally caught on to this) that "its only vapor" line I was throwing around, really doesnt matter and is not the point at all. I then got educated on the issues and stopped doing that:)

I avoided a lot of the mistakes most make but the nicotine content of my first juices was too high (24mg). Gave me the usual overdose symptoms and I had to drop to 18mg. I only smoked about 15 cigs a day, sometimes not even that.

That was exactly my first mistake, even though I smoked less than a pk a day of cigs, and had smoked ultra-lights for more than 20 yrs, I bought 18mg, gack! That was awful. Then I bought 12mg, and gack again! Felt even worse, if that's possible. So I got 6mg and FINALLY I could vape as much as I wanted. Discovered that I actually do best around 8mg for daytime, but drop to 6mg at night.

Also, and I know *everyone* told me that cigalike battery life was crap, I bought an eRoll anyway. It got me to quit smoking, but it only took 2 wks of constant recharging/refilling before I bought an iTaste vv3 and a few real tanks (2 T3S and an ARO pyrex), and I wish I had bought that FIRST. But oh well. the eRoll got me to quit smoking so I guess that's the most important thing. now I'm getting into cartos and they're awesome! Not so much fiddling about!!!

My first trip to an ecig store I walked out with a Itaste MVP with an Iclear 30 attached to it with a tank full of "Monkey Juice". The man behind the counter was kind enough to set it up for me.

I got in my car and started to vape on it and I could swear "Ode to Joy" began to play. I found a new passion that doesn't involve risking my life.

A month later I moved up to the VTR and a ton of different clearomizers. Then I made the mistake of stumbling on this gentleman known as Rip Trippers. Currently I'm on mechs and rebuildables.

Honestly though, my mistakes have been few. My first micro-coil wick build in a Kayfun Lite clone went very well thanks to the ton of info out there.

Buying Apple (or Forbidden Fruit as they called it) instead of a tobacco flavor. GrimmGreen and PBusardo have kept me straight though.

ROFL... a very light apple note is one of the key flavors of the Virginia e-juice I like best! Also just a trace of cinnamon in there somewhere... and yeah, that lovely smooth tobacco flavor. I don't think I'll ever be truly satisfied by any e-juice that doesn't have it. Even my morning mix that has zero throat hit and lots of apple-cinnamon-clove, still has a faint note of smooth tobacco.
