My lady's istick is having some issues, too.
If I put her aerotank mini on it, it does not detect it. I thought it might be the adapter dohitchy but I can screw my aerotank mega in and it works just fine(with and without the adapter). So she's stolen my mega!
Any ideas? I've cleaned the threads, tightened down the coil, backed the coil off, tried a new coil, I don't know what else to do.

I just had a problem this afternoon! Didn't detect a MOW tank that had only been off while the iStick was charged, and I'd been using it for that time on an iPow 2 - I tried cleaning the contact pin, cleaning the adapter, the base of the tank, tightened the coil, and still nothing. So I tried using it on a different iStick ...nothing.

I Realised the coil had been in that tank for almost 3 weeks, so put a new one in ...away like a steam train!
The iStick obviously doesn't like 'dying' coils!

Only time I had anything like this problem has been a couple of times when there was a spot of liquid on the contact pin - cleaned it and all was fine.

I'll go and read ..or bookmark - that thread Nanny linked to!

If I use a protank on my MVP, then put a T3S on it, I have to take a small screwdriver and pull the pin in the middle up a bit. Would this be an issue on the istick?

The pin on the iStick is more raised that the MVP, so I doubt it...though only screw the tank in till it makes contact not all the way tight. I have never had a problem with my MVP2 as a result...

I have that problem a lot even if I only screw the tank in until it just makes contact. Idk...I just keep a small screwdriver close by to raise it back up a little.

Well, you have one of the pewpy MVP's...that's what I'm thinking...there are some around, that's what gave the MVP a bad reputation.
