Ok, so i have an Ego-C and I started out with the vision Clearomizers. I have been buying them from a store that is close to where I live. These were going bad (burning taste) in under a week, even though the people at the store told me they would last 2 weeks. So I decided to switch to a DCT system, at the store they are selling smoketech cartomizers to go with these the first one I had in there I messed up the first day because I overfilled the tank and got it into the cartomizer, it immediately turned black and I had to put in a new one. The second one lasted me about 4 days before it turned black. The third one I was using today, I had it on there for 3 days, the cartomizer was still completely white but I noticed that it looked really dry and thought maybe that's why it was turning black so fast so I put a few drops in the top and took a few puffs. Low and behold it instantly turned black again! I don't understand why this is happening, does anyone have any advice? I am also wondering what everyone else uses and how long they last them. A big reason for me to switch was to save money but I don't really feel like I am with how fast I am going through these cartomizers.

I've been vaping for 2 1/2 months. 1st month and a half dripping a 510 atty on an ego battery. Tried the vision ce4, not very good after a week. Gunky clogged mess. For the past month I've been rotating 2 packs (10) of bottom coil CE3 (aka phoenix) and they've been great. A bit of maintainence and they just vape like a dream. Still using ego batts, $100 mods look cool, but one of the reasons I quit smoking was to SAVE money. I'd like an ego twist or 2, could get 3 or 4 of them for the price of any other VV batts.
Good luck & keep on vaping!

Oh sorry, forget how far I've come :p. Ummm... vapors-choice.com has an amazingly low price on CE3s and ego twist, all egos for that matter. They also have good prices on rebuildable vision clearos. So you can take apart & clean out & replace just the coil without throwing away whole thing.
I'm jealous you have a brick & mortar store at all! I live 45 minutes out of Chicago & can't find a retailer. Would be so cool to walk into a store & look at stuff before buying it, instead of ordering online & hoping for the best. I'd suggest searching whatever you want to try on youtube for reviews before buying. I find them invaluable in deciding what I want. Plus, very often reveiwers like steeljan grimmgreen & lorddavon will give tips & tricks that help avoid pitfalls with certain products.

When you say DCT, I'm assuming you are referring to a dual coil tank. I can't say why the carto is turning black, it could be a bad batch. However, the ego has the smallest voltage battery on the market at only 3.4 volts. Dual coils in the 1.5 - 2.0 ohm range will not work properly on an ego due to the small battery and how it reduces the power to about 3.2 volts when it doesn't like the resistence of the cartomizer. One reason why I never recommend them.

I use DC cartos with and without tanks and never have an issue. But then I am vaping them at 4.5 to 4.7 volts with a PV that has a switch regulator that will handle them. Many of us have found that DCC's shine best around 4.5 volts.

I don't know where you got your DCC's but I rarely have had a problem with the ones from MadVapes.

Good Luck

First fill of a carto is VERY IMPORTANT whether vaping in a rtank or not. I get 2 weeks out my carto/ tank.

Key in vid below when pushing carto down into condom of juice is to do it very slowly

Stardust clearos are lasting me 3-4 weeks but I have the long wick- short wick must be tilted occasionally otherwise a dry burn. I clean them every 2 days.

I am confused though about the CE3's. You said you have been rotating 10 of them, are you doing that because you are using different flavors in each of them or do you mean that you have gone through 10 of them in a month? Do you change the attys out on these or they just something you toss when you are done with them? What happens when they go bad, how can you tell?

I am at my 4 month mark. I have tried many things from cartos, carto tanks, to dripping attys. I started with stick battries all the way up to the point of were now I am using a mod that uses a 26650 battery in it. Everyones preferred setup is different but I will share my preferred setup and links to each item I am using. first I am using the B.A.M. mod BAM, I am using in it a MNKE 26650 IMR battery MNKE IMR26650 3.7v High Drain Li-MN Battery - Avid Vaper, on top of this I am using the part you will probably be more interested in, I am using a 510-901 stealth adaptor Stealth Adapter - Avid Vaper an Empire mods premium bridgeless 1.5ohm 901 atty EmpireMods Premium Bridge Free LR901 1.5ohm, an empire mods drip shield Empire Drip Shields they have the cheaper emported ones and ones for egos as well Imported Drip Shields and then I have a glass drip tip (though any 510/901 drip tip will work) Glass Drip Tips

this setup will work on any 510 or 901 device so don't feel you have to have the mod I have to give it a try just remember to keep the coil wet.

What I am using is this

SMK 510 dual coil cartomizers

with this

Smoktech 510 DCT with various colors in Polypropylene materials

with the ego-c battery.

Any idea why the cartomizers are turning black and only lasting 3 days?

Again, I can't say for sure why they are turning black, but I know that the eGo will not work with a 1.5 ohm carto or atty which is what you linked to. It's one of several limitations of the eGo setup and why I don't recommend them when there are better options in the same physical size and price range.

Are you filling the cartomizer with liquid along with the liquid in the tank ?
You must have liquid in the carto and this sounds like you are not.

I put 4 drops in the bottom and 40 in the top to prep it. After that though no, but like I said I tried adding more today after 3 days of using it and it instantly turned black.
