What should I do? Hi I am Alex

Hi everyone, I am Alex. Thank you for hearing me out. I've been smoking since I was 15, and at age 31 I have quit, finally. Sixteen years. I've been cigarette free (I had to quit because I am too poor now; graduated college & in debt) since New Years. It's been a struggle because I am ASD. It has always helped me, literally.

I've been using the Aspire nautilus with an MVP 20. At first I used 50 50 tobacco because I really needed good throat hit. I purchased RY4 because that is my favorite and then I broke out into a crazy rash all over my face--blisters, burns, puffiness. It was terrible so I went back and bought Space Jam (I have heard of it and thought it would be better quality). I got 70 vg (I think that is what it was) which is pretty high for a nautilus, I was told. The rash decreased heavily but is still there. It just won't go away.

My next thought was Blu because hey Ill just sue (jk), but I thought being owned by BT would ensure a safety net. It did, and my rash went down for...a day because that is how long the 9.99 ecig lasted for. Not long, and not flavorful or as good as a vaporizer. Lowering the PG sucked, but I got more used to it--either way the rash just won't go. Its around my lips and on my cheeks. It feels like a burn. Kind of embarassing but I read that this can happen.

So I need a vaporizer that can handle max vg, I guess. I'm incredibly broke, but I know there are less expensive hidden places on the net from smaller vendors. I'm about to vape the rash stuff 50 50 (lol ah) in the mean time b.c I legit can't just stop, and I dont want to bum cigarettes from all my neighbors. I will need to save for a few weeks (maybe). Does anyone have a recomendation for a solid set, nothing fancy I guess, where I can vape max vg (not happy about max, but hey what am I going to do? Lol)...something not too expensive that will work? Maybe there is a sale somewhere? I would like a battery, tank, atomizer, its charger. Maybe e-liquid.

Thank you if anyone can help. <3

Tl;dr: cheapest vape kit for max vg -- help with rash on face? I know it is gross :( Hopfully this is the right place to ask. TY vapers

Hi and welcome Alex, sorry to hear about your troubles. It could certainly be the PG (or flavors). If you get some MaxVG juice you can always thin it with a little distilled water (not tap water) and it should work fine in your nautilus. By a little, I mean less than 10% DW, often much less (depending on the viscosity of the juice you get) --- like just a couple drops of DW in 5ml of MaxVG to start with.

Welcome Alex.
+1 for adding dw (do not use tap or bottled drinking water) a couple drops at a time. The best way to narrow down if pg is in fact the issue is buy a small bottle of vg and thin with the distilled water to vape. Before spending money on a new kit or juice I'd recommend knowing pg is the problem.

Really? I did not know that. Will it taste good still? Will that make the throat hit even less? Adding water makes sense. What about the atomizer?

What else could cause that? The guy at the store told me PG caused it. If I do this, and it does not go away, does that mean Im SOL?

The very small amount of distilled water should have little effect on the flavor, but may give a slightly cooler vape and perhaps slightly reduced throat hit. You only want to add a very few drops in order to thin it a bit so it will wick better in the atomizer. Mind you, some brands of MaxVG juices aren't as thick/viscous as others to start with, so you'll have to judge the viscosity yourself.

Not necessarily SOL ... some people react to some flavor ingredients, some react to PG, some to VG. Of those, it seems PG seems relatively more common to cause problems.

Personally, I might advise you to consider DIY ... much cheaper in the long run (but does have a small outlay of expense to start). That way you could make your own unflavored MaxVG juice (just using VG, DW, and nicotine) and if that works, then introduce flavorings slowly and see how it works out.

If the guy at the shop isn't a doctor he simply does not know period. PG just might be the cause. Process of elimination is the only way you will know definitely. It could also not be vape related and just be a coincidence that it flared the same time you took up vaping. Some are only allergic to specific flavors. Tedious process but imo well worth the time.

Welcome to the forum.
Some RY4's contain Ethyl Alcohol, let the bottle opened for half a day to breath, then you are good to go.

Hi and welcome. Sorry to hear about the problems you are having.

You know none of us here are Doctors and neither are the guys in the vape shop - if it were me I'd be inclined to get medical advice about the rash before I did much else.

Again if it were me I'd try the DIY route too and I would seriously consider trying unflavoured juice of some kind ... but again I'm not a doctor.

Whatever best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Hello AlexCat, you could try 100% VG Nicotine shots or liquid mixed with VG and then thin it a little with Distilled Water as others have suggested. This is as basic as it can get as there's no flavorings or sweeteners, just Nicotine and a carrier base.

For throat hit, peppermint and menthol flavours work well. But I don't know if any manufacturers make VG versions.

But first start simple, without anything else added and see how you get on and of course get and see a medical professional as soon as you can to discuss this further. Also don't forget to keep a vape diary or journal as it may be helpful when you do talk to a professional.

Hi and welcome, Alex. I agree you ought to see your doctor, but I also wonder how many of them would suspect pg unless you brought it up, and how many would default to blaming it when you bring it up.

I’d probably tell my doc every thing he asked, except the vaping, first, just to see what else he came up with.

But also, since you have noticed less rash with less pg, it can’t hurt to go with max vg in the meantime.

Thinning is the cheapest, most available solution. DW is like $.80 a gallon.

When you have the extra cash and are ready to get a different tank, you might try a Freemax mesh pro. They can handle the high vg well. Google the heck out of whatever you decide on though, to find who’s selling it and the best prices, and also ask here. If it exists, someone on the forum has one, has an opinion on it, and can help you find one.

Good luck!

Pretty much the same thing happens to me.
For me it is caused by pg and some flavours.
Flavours were never important to me so I just ditched using them. I much prefer unflavored juice to flavours. I do mix flavoured juices for other people so I do still try them before I hand them over or when I'm trying new recipes or testing a new atty. But basically I vape unflavored 99% of the time.
I use between 9 and 15% distilled water, generally 11 or 12% dw with vg and nic in vg base.
More water kinda gives more of a harsh throat hit. I don't like it. Its not the same as a pg throat hit. There are other trade offs with using higher percentages of water that makes it a less satisfying vape for me.
11 or 12% sharpens the taste of the vg and I prefer it to 8 or 9% dw. Wicking with 11 and 12% dw is never a problem other than you can taste the difference in different brands of cotton, some cotton tastes pretty bad. Ha!
For me having an intolerance to pg turned out to be a blessing tbh.
Just so much less fuss.
If you go to your doc about the rash they will likely tell you not to vape and bill you for doing nothing for you.

Hmmmm interesting! Alc! Would Space Jam max vg eclipse have it? Corrolation with switching it went down but not gone but still has some. Causation doesnt equal corrolation. I dont think it is anything else bc i have no allergies and my skin is like a happy crocodile. I wouldnt think a max vg would have alc. That could cause that for people, I could see.

I have a background in medicine. Not a doctor though. I vaped before mods (stopped at release of mvp 3). Never had this happen. Its odd. Thank you for the concern, especially given allbthe controversy
