I use 18g on a 1-3ml syringe for filling carts and it does well.
if i'm mixing or transferring juices from bottle to bottle, I use a 14g. 14g is friggin huge though, too big to fill carts with, imo.
I count drops for concentrated flavoring (it's the most accurate way, imho, if you're mixing small quantities (up to 30ml))

The 16 and larger needles ( @ OPsmall number = larger needle) are great for VG. usually you can get 16 gauge fixed needle 3ml syringes at walmart/walgreens/cvs for about 25 cents. Larger needles are normally easily available at feed stores and farm supply outlets like Atwoods (TX, OK, KS , AR, MO)

It is best to get the Leuer-lock (twist and lock) type needles when available.
