I was trying to send some money last night and it won't do my credit card that I linked any more. I get the 'Add Funds' and the only choices are adding a bank account (not happening!) or using a 'MoneyPack', a thing I have to leave the house and buy 'at a retailer near me.' The dude on the phone this is the only way to use your cards now -- WTF????? I don't remember getting any notice of change or anything and why yesterday? I sent cash sunday to markfm, np -- has this happened to anyone else? Oh, I forgot to tell you, the 'MoneyPack' can be recharged but its $4.95 to purchase! I'm so PO'd right now, not the way my mellowness likes to be!

No, my credit is great amd balances low, its a new added layer of protection they call it -- I can use the card I've always used but I have to buy the 'MoneyPack' to do it and recharge at a retailer, also (I think, I don't see how you recharge it online -- but I don't have the fraking thing yet) -- its just bs..........

And you don't want one. I checked into this a bit ago, not only do you have to buy the damn thing, but it costs money to "recharge" the stupid thing. Sounds like a ploy to scam more cash from ppl by PP.

speaking of bank account folks be carefull someone got my debit numbers last thurs nite. my bank called me friday and they told me someone used my numbers. they contacted me and we closed that account and changed . have no idea how my bank knew but man they are good. they only charged 19.95 but still it could have been worse. anyway this is one reason i will not use bank info thru paypal.
maybe i have to get one of those 200 limit cc prepaid things. will that work?

Just shut down my 14 year old account. When it asked for a comment (in a nutshell) I informed them that between this new hoop and their puritan ideas about what legal items could and could not be purchased (mentioned e-cigs specifically), I had been convinced that their services were no longer beneficial to me. :pervy:

On a side note, I believe that some banks and third party bill payers will now allow you to pay private individuals electronically. I'm pretty sure my bank is one of them but never really had a reason to look into it. Guess I will be now.

Though I'd be the last person to defend paypal in any way, it looks as though it may still be possible to send payments and have the source of funds be your credit card- you just can't draw off from your card to fund the balance in your paypal account. That actually makes a little bit of sense, otherwise they're essentially processing a cash advance without you being charged the cash interest rate (which can endanger a merchant's status and increases risks of chargebacks dramatically).

Just an idea. I still think that PayPal should be regulated as a bank and forced to provide the same consumer (and merchant) protection that banks provide.
