Today's update!!!

I applied for their credit card, which is right there, says it helps you get 'Verified", thinking that you could link it to your Paypal account. What the hell was I thinking? That'd be convenient and that does not seem to be the Paypal way. The credit card offer is just another bogus Paypal red herring. I visited the Paypal site and there are a lot of problems with the MoneyPak, people not being allowed to move money and they're actually separate entities that don't always communicate well -- nothing says confidence like a ton of complaints on their own website! I have no idea what I am going to do to transfer money to other members here, especially as I like being in co-ops. I know the value of a buck even though I seem to give most of it away!

Last thought -- Paypal Moneypak = New Coke, a company killer............

yup....I have never used PP and never will. No one but me is going to access my checking account. I stopped using EBay when the PP went into effect. I am an Artist and used to use Ebay for sales so my income got cut a bit. As far as Classifieds on ECF, all people have to do is request a Money Order...takes a bit longer with USPS but if someone does not want to use PP, it is an option. I never need e-cig stuff in that big of a hurry, anyway.

This. A USPS money order is as good as cash (well..almost, but it's the best MO out there IMO). It might take a bit longer, but works.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised that PP has lasted this long. I've no idea why our banks have not come up with a foolproof way to complete secure transactions between people on the internet.

I would do money orders...but most of classifieds say PP only... :)

That's because it was an easy, quick way to transfer money between individuals often thousands of miles apart, a great service that evidentally had to be squashed! I thought they were just a credit card verification service when it began, now they are moneychangers -- where is a young Jesus to smash these guys?!?!?!?

And you're right, Tim, co-ops would have to be limited to known friends, a lot more trust involved for the person running the co-op.........

Hey Cos,
Someone got my bank info also!!!
I ordered from a supplier , using a link thru ECF, and I got hacked for over200.00!!! my bank also caught it and closed it down and we were given all our money back, but hmmmmmm... what a coincidence....
JUST SO MY COMMENT DOESNT START ANYTHING I AM NOT BLAMING ECF OR THE SUPPLIER, JUST WANTED TO MENTION IT. I DID CONTACT THE MODERATORS OF THE FORUM SO THEY KNOW.

well this frigan sucks if ya ask me. Hey Ripple i wanted those wetboxes too lol. the person before usd had paypal problems so i think i was next in line but if ya cant use the cc i am screwed. i love these classifieds but now what can we do. no way will i use my bank account.
speaking of bank account folks be carefull someone got my debit numbers last thurs nite. my bank called me friday and they told me someone used my numbers. they contacted me and we closed that account and changed . have no idea how my bank knew but man they are good. they only charged 19.95 but still it could have been worse. anyway this is one reason i will not use bank info thru paypal.
maybe i have to get one of those 200 limit cc prepaid things. will that work?
Cos

Not even just that, most (I think) rely on linked cards thru PP, so if they can't use this any longer, then they don't have a way to pay for co-oping since most (it seems) won't link a bank account to PP (not that I blame them).

Mesa, AZ...off the analogs for years!
Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see anything different.

It's free to send money using Personal as long as you pay either from your PP account or your checking account. To pay via CC they've always charged a fee or at least they have for a long time.

Paying via Personal and the usual route are two different beasts. If you are buying something in the usual way, then you can use your CC that you have linked in without a fee.

Its adding money to the account that has proved difficult, paying ain't a problem but putting money in there is. I just linked a card to Paypal and never added funds once in, what, 5 years? Now they are making you jump through a hoop that costs $5 whenever you want to add money. Its bs!

PLUS, I don't know how I'm going to pay you for the co-op I'm in with you now.

but if you hook up your checking account to it, then you don't have to pay the fee correct?

no there are no fees if you use your bank account with PP.. been doing it for yearssss and have never had a problem, I do however use a bank account that isn't my main one just incase!! For ecig purchases, I use the debit card I got with the account and have yet to be denied a purchase.. Personally I like PP, been with them since they started and won't be getting rid of them anytime soon..

I misunderstood. I meant fees are assessed when you receive funds. Same as others I linked a checking account (not main one) to my PP and there are no fees to send money, but they get their cut when you receive funds. But if its personal money sent then no fees tacked on. Fees are put on for business transactions as in selling something (like on ebay).

For me it has nothing to do with the fees, but more of they want to operate similar to a bank in offering debit and credit cards. That's fine, but why is every decision basically based on what's acceptable to purchase on Ebay? I mean I can go buy a darn witches spell on ebay right now and pay with PP. I could also purchase anything porn related I like by simply clicking a button that says I'm of appropriate age. But they decide that things like fire arms and ecigs, while being legal shouldn't be allowed? Nah.......I'll decide for myself what I should and shouldn't purchase thank you. Personally I find purchases for teen porn more offensive than basically a battery and heating element. But that's JMO. boB

Oops, been using my PP debit card for e-cig sites.
Well, no issues so far, and I do agree on the points you raised.
