What to buy to avoid nasty burnt taste in 510's

I've been trolling these forums since last year. Initially I bought a batch of 510's and loved them. Then the nasty taste started. I've done all kinds of cleaning and tried a couple mods (ptb and blue foam), but no matter what I do, I keep getting funky, nasty, burned up funk in my mouth.

Is there a model that doesn't get that taste? I'm down to the last few packs of non-fsc in my city, and starting to wonder if the carpet glue could be any worse than smoking plastic.

I don't care what it costs, as long as it's reliable and doesn't taste like burnt plastic. Can anybody help me?

I'd recommend getting off the cart merry-go-round, and give dripping (ideally with a drip tip) a good try. Even there, possibilities of burnt taste remain: caked juice residue in the bridge wicking material, etc.--which is why some drippers remove that wicking, and some take out the entire bridge. But even if you don't do that, you've removed a major aggravation factor by eschewing the cart.

Just use some scissors on your carts - chop off about 2 mm or so on the atty side end - I never get that taste btw, I drip and my carts are all 'short' now lol.
Make sure if you use cart filler that its not too dry - you can wiggle it up with a toothpick if its too low in the cart. Or just drip and don't worry about the filler lol

In the past I found that the burned taste started after the cart showed signs of melting, also at times small fibers of cart filler were getting snagged on the wire mesh and getting down into the coil and burning. YUCK! I would also recommend trying either cartomizers or drip tips. I found the carts don't work so well anyway, and you end up dripping into them instead, so why not try a drip tip, and get fresher hits each time you vape. I found some for as low as $3.50 ea. (volcano e cig website has them) and they are all over in many other sites for various prices under $10... I don't know if you can do much to get that burned taste out once it is in there, besides removing the bridge and wicking material (there are threads about that here, just search it) to expose the coil and remove the burned material. Dripping works great with this mod, and if you already could not use that atty, what do you have to lose if you try. My $.02 Good luck..

Just found this vid on youtube about removing the wick. Apparently it burns up and gives off that taste. I haven't tried it though as I do not have a 510 yet. I'm drawn to the whole "dripping" concept, so I shall have one soon. Sadly, I can not post a link as I'm still a noob. But you can search youtube for: "How to remove your wick" by Phee303. Hope that helps.

I battle with the burnt taste problem from time to time. It is usually because I chain vape when I am at the computer and get the atty too hot or too dry. I am trying cartomizers and they seem to do better, but if they get just a little dry I get that taste from them as well. Dripping seems to give me the best flavor but if I add too much juice I flood the atty and get juice leaking, too little and I get that burnt taste.
