My niece's sister-in-law smoked a rolled non-filtered cigarette for the first time, passed out, went to the ER and was told that is was an extremely rare reaction to a poison that is found in tobacco. The sister-in-law told them that my niece uses ecigs and they told her that same poison is found in ecigs. My niece laughed and then tried to educate her but of course that didn't work. There is just no convincing some people.

i always get "you dont know what they put in that liquid stuff youre smokin on"

i always say "you dont know how many chemicals youre injesting from that cigarette your smokin on"

for the most part from what i understand, e-liquid contains a ratio of pg/vg, nicotine and some flavoring correct? better than thousands of carcinogenic chemicals in cig smoke anyday.

1. The claim that vaping is safer cannot be substantiated without long-term studies to support it. Hence, in the face of uncertainty, we must doubt this claim.

2. The claim that vaping leads teenagers to smoking cannot be substantiated without long-term studies to support it. Hence, in the face of uncertainty, we must totally believe this claim.

Teens lead teens to smoking or vaping or smoking dope. I don't support kids getting involved in a habit that has run me for 25 years. From a top down view of the situation I would much rather they vape than smoke. Maybe we are approaching this all wrong. Maybe we need to tell the kids sure you can vape all the ZERO nic juice you can afford so that they have fulfilled the desire to be rebellious without getting addicted to nic or tobacco. Notice the maybe. I am a father of a teenage boy who talked me into vaping due to a senior he knows that quit smoking with a vape rig. Yes I acknowledge that there are still issues involved with this approach. Anyone have an idea how to fine tune the process?

I've had a number of smokers tell me that vaping was a lot worse for me as they puffed away on their 4000 chemicals and carcinogens. Wow... Just WOW. They were all really hostile to vaping too. I'm not sure what to make of that. There really does seem to be a lot of hostility against vaping, and from what I've seen it has it's roots in profound ignorance.

My friend Pete, said that his friend quit smoking and started vaping. So the next time Pete saw him, the guy had a oxygen canister hooked up and, are you ready for this........he told him it was because of the vaping.
That's when I walked away............
That wasn't an oxygen tank. That was his mod that holds alooot of juice ;)

With people who are deeply convinced they know better and trying to tell me it's the same as smoking, I choose a line of lesser resistance with only quoting all the benefits I experienced since quitting cigarettes.
They: You don't know what they put in it.
Me: OK.
They: So why do you do that ?
Me: Because I stop coughing, and I breathe easier, I have no longer problem with sinuses, since I quit cigarettes and start using e-cigarette.
They: It's the same as smoking.
Me: Absolutely. (have your way...)
They: So why do you still do that ?
Me: Because since I quit cigarettes and started using e-cigarette I am no longer wheezing, my smell and taste senses become better and I stop coughing.

After such a short conversation most of the times they just shut up. Sometimes it happens they nod off and grin at me like what do I know. But they have heard about my health condition improvements besides using e-cigarette, and now it's up to them what to do with it. It was not always the line of lesser resistance, on the beginning I tried telling people about e-cigarettes in a greater detail, but with someone who knows better without experiencing it or unwilling to listen and learn, I found it's not worth my time.

Said with a straight face, right at me:

Her: "I heard on the news yesterday that ecigs don't really help people quit smoking".

Me: "Well, I've been quit for a year, and thousands of other people have quit with them, too."

Her: "Well I'm just saying what the news and all the experts are saying".

Yep, I tend to tune out whenever someone says "Well, I heard . . . ."

The dumbest thing I've ever heard or read is Doctor Adam Goldstein commenting on the dangers of vaping:

"It could be several thousand degrees when it hits your lungs," he said. "We know there are short-term adverse pulmonary respiratory effects."

Read more at Doctor: E-cigarettes don't help smokers kick habit :: WRAL.com

That's from about a year ago and I still get a laugh at the absurdity of the article. The rest of the article is just the usual "you should only use approved methods to quit smoking, vaping only works for a small minority of those who have tried to quite etc etc .."
