The dumbest thing I've ever heard or read is Doctor Adam Goldstein commenting on the dangers of vaping:

"It could be several thousand degrees when it hits your lungs," he said. "We know there are short-term adverse pulmonary respiratory effects."

Read more at Doctor: E-cigarettes don't help smokers kick habit :: WRAL.com

That's from about a year ago and I still get a laugh at the absurdity of the article. The rest of the article is just the usual "you should only use approved methods to quit smoking, vaping only works for a small minority of those who have tried to quite etc etc .."

Dang! I was going to post that!

"I don't want your second hand smoke. I heard that stuff will give you pnumonia" - a friend who SMOKES!

"You're teaching your kid bad influences. You should just go back to smoking. It's the same thing" - my mother.

That "friend who smokes" probably would have got punched in the head after saying that, if it was me.

For me, the most popular memes are the most dumb. 4 of them come to mind and in order of most dumb to just plain stupid are:

1. (As others on this thread have noted) The only reason for certain flavors is to attract kids.

2. There is no evidence that vaping helps with quitting smoking.

3. Vaping is a gateway to smoking.

4. You should only vape where you used to smoke or where smoking is allowed. (I realize it isn't only ANTZ that might say this, but to me it is an ANTZ message, regardless of who's conveying it.) To me, this is akin to telling a recovering alcoholic, who chooses to drink non-alcoholic beer that they really only should be drinking it in bars.

I had forgotten about this one...

I own a crime forum but we do have a very small section to discuss e-cigs because it turned out that many of the members had switched to them. (It was one of those members that told me about ECF!)

Anyways another member, who often stirs crap on every topic, decided that "e-cigs are dangerous!"
Despite the many success stories that other members shared she continued to quote ever stupid news story that she could find with all the typical mis information and word games.
Even when other members went on to show proof dispelling the myths she believed she would not budge.

On the bright side another member did find this link which is a positive thing about e-cigs!

I've been dealing with anti-gun and anti-2nd Amendment folks for years. That experience has given me the ability to deal with the anti e-cig crowd in the best possible way for me.

I give them a dirty look, and dismiss them.

If they're going to spew ignorance and refuse to look at the data and personal experience of others, then why waste my time and energy in trying to educate them. Don't get me wrong...I've helped convert 3 folks this weekend at the parental festivities leading up to my daughter's prom, but those that are snooty about the topic without willing to consider the other side are a waste of time. Those are the same people that probably believe the earth is flat and air travel is fantasy.

As for the 3 I converted this weekend, all three are smokers that saw me with my MVP v2.0, and wanted to know about it. I loaned them each one of my eGos with a new CE5 loaded with 18mg nic Midnight Express from NicQuid, which is close to the acrid taste and flavor of a real cig...at least it is to me. I've heard back from two of the three, and they will be getting my equipment back tonight, after they pick up their own set-ups. The third one is still on the fence, and will be coming by tomorrow to try a few of the other flavors that my wife and I enjoy. If 2 of the 3 convert for good, I'll be happy.

"It could be several thousand degrees when it hits your lungs," he said.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!!! This is from a DR.??!!??!! Considering touching a cookie sheet coming out of a 350F degree oven for a half second can cause severe burns, several thousand degrees would instantly CHAR the persons mouth, throat, and MELT the lungs resulting in instant death to anyone that inhaled it. For comparison volcanic lava is between 1300-2400F. Does the Dr. seriously think anyone is inhaling lava and then casually blowing out clouds of vapor over and over?

Sadly, yes. I suspect he was just parroting what his Pfizer handler told him to say.

While inhaling lava would be a bad idea for obvious reasons, the temperature of a gas could actually be thousands of degrees without burning you. The other components of the equation are heat density and conductivity. Basically same reason why you don't get burned in a 100C sauna but would get a severe burn if you stuck your hand in boiling water for long enough.

Other than that, he is still wrong. E-cig vapor temperature has been measured and is generally between 80-140C.

That nicotine is just as toxic as anthrax and a nickle sized amount of it on your hand is enough to kill you

There is exactly 0,69551576578575g of nicotine in a nickle sized amount which is enough to kill 2.9 average adults.

I tell smokers that vaping is a way better nicotine delivery system, and there are no chemical bs you get from cigs, then I let them hit whatever PV I've got at the time, it's usually between 0.8 0hm and 0.4ohm @ 12nic,..... Go ahead hit it a few times,.... Oh wow that tastes great... Hit it again.... I can't I got a head rush!....
