I saw my doctor last week. First thing she asked me was how my stop smoking was going. I told her about that I was using e-cigs, and to my surprise she had never heard of them before. When I explained what they are, she had a skeptical look on her face and told me she was going to read up on them, and that she "has her doubts". She also told me she wanted to schedule a follow up appt in 2 months because "she wants to make sure I have quit smoking completely". She has been pushing me to try Chantix for the past year, and she one again tried to push me that direction. I think I'll lie to her next time I go in :-(

Direct her to the the "Resources" page on CASAA.org, instead. Call or e-mail or write her office. Or better yet, stop by and drop off the info.

Lying to your doctor is counter-productive.

Wow. Seems more positive than negative. One of my docs told me it was just as bad as the real thing and the my other physician seemed somewhat indifferent as long as tobacco intake is over and done with. A respitory therapist I work with has some curiosity with them. He thinks that they are a better alternative.

However...

After one week and three days, tobacco-free and using my PV, my overall lung function has drastically improved and continues with each passing day. My lungs, chest, bronchial tube, throat and mouth feel much better. Feel like I was transformed in the body of a non-smoker. It's nice to be able to work harder and longer at the gym, it's nice to not get out of breath when walking up a hill and it's nice to not have the rancid taste & odor of tar and tobacco.

TG for PV's. They're a big help!

It's been almost a year since my last exam, but I had stopped smoking for a few months when I went in. I told my MD that I was no longer smoking, and what I was using instead. She had never heard of e-cigarettes, but seemed impressed after checking me out, considering my history of smoking. She said she would have to look into it to see if she might recomend it to other patients. I'll be seeing her again in a little while for my yearly visit, so I'll see what she has to say. And , in case you are wondering, I really do see my MD once a year.

I saw my MD (also a "she") about a year ago. At first she was a bit confused until I demoed the Ego for her... her first reaction was "so your still inhaling all that POISON!" To which I replied "NO,NO,NO - it's PG and VG and nic, not antifreeze, and not all of the other 4000 chemicals in cigs!". She was subsequently impressed, and marked me as a non-smoker (i've since cheated a few times :(). She also promised to look this "stuff" up online.

what is the Ego???
Every brags about how great it is in every forum I'm in! lol!

WHy does the Ego stand out more than the other ecigs?
Send me the link maybe??

So when me and my wife decided to try e-cigs, I read a lot and the eGo kept coming up. So we went to a local shop that sold both the eGo and the 510. My wife wanted the 510 because it was small and had the shape of an analog. I went with the eGo. Within a week, my wife was ordering an eGo for herself- that's how impressed she was with it. The biggest difference is the battery life- 2 ego batteries will last all day, whereas with her 510's she was charging both batteries 3 times per day.

My docotor was encouraging when I went for my annual VA check-up about 2 months ago. She even had me demo it while I was sitting on the exam table, and let me keep vaping through the exam. She said she was going to look into it some herself as something to recommend to some of her other patients as well. So it turned out to be a fairly positive experience. Duno about the dentist though, I'm terrified of the sound their tools make >.<

An understanding and empathetic dentist with a staff that is the same way will go a long way to relieve fears. Also, don't be afraid to ask about nitrous oxide. This is a short acting gas that can help relieve an overly fearful and anxious patient.

You only have one set of adult teeth...after that dentures. A little factoid that I learned the first semester of dental assisting is that dentures are only a fraction as effective as our natural teeth in breaking down food so that it can be properly digested.

My psychiatrist was thrilled and even lets me vape in his office. The first time I quit smoking cold turkey, he was totally against it because of my stress levels and general health condition at the time. I have emailed him a few links, but have not seen him since. I know I go back within the next couple of months, but don't remember when.

My rheumatologist was neither here nor there about it, but was concerned with the level of nicotine that was in my juice. At the time it was a 30mg/ml bottle. I took her concern to heart and dropped down to 12mg/ml, unfortunately I think this is why my pain level has been so much higher. The pain level seems to correspond to the drop in nicotine....so I am having to mix and match the same flavors with different nicotine levels. I do know that I don't want to go clear back up to 30mg/ml.

BTW--I am not a doctor, but I have paid very close attention to the ads for chantix. If you struggle with depressive illness, anxiety, or are bipolar and your doctor chooses to push you toward chantix, I would really question them about it. Seems like the side effects could be pretty severe and people with the above problems should probably be steered clear of this medication. Just a thought FWIW.

My Dr was so impressed he brought in 6 other Doctors to the exam room to see the demonstration. I demonstrated and gave them ECF website and that it is a must to learn just about everything from best ecigs to juice suppliers. Hummmm, should I send a consulting invoice? This was a great presentation and I won over all the Dr.'s. One Doc said she was so excited because she wanted to introduce not only her analog patients but also her Mom to ecigs.......
