Started with a couple cig-alikes which I didn't like. After I did the Google thing I got a Joytech 650mah and a Clearo. A week later got a 900mah Spinner, week after that a Spinner 1300mah. Have a few basic carts and couple Clearos and Nanos. I drip at home.
Got the evod couple weeks ago. I find it works better if you replace the extra wicks with cotton. I use a piece of natural cooking twine. Should note if you do this it will use more juice.
Going to get the Vamo soon and maybe a mech also. I'm going to get it at a local shop. It'll cost more than online but I'll have it when I'm ready and support my local shop. An rba will be in the works soon also. I'll have to get it online.

Started with 900mah eGo passthrough battery, now I have a SmokTech SID on the way (I think the first one on the forum too). Personally, I'm a atty ..... and I have 2 rebuildables and a bunch of "throwaways" in my possession, and a list of more that I want. Can never have too much stuff to get the perfect vape.

i started with smokeless image volt pcc kit and was done with cigarettes completely, the had a couple of ego twists land in my hands. Then it was on to my mods. My first mod is hard to say because I bought both of mine at the same time, they were a VAMO and an Innokin ITaste MVP. Both sturdy and well built. My Vamo is my go to, and my MVP is my work setup. I've only been vaping a short while in comparison to some, but I feel well educated and not so much a noob. I change flavors a lot, but typically top off my devices with a Pro-Tank or my USMC JonBoy carto tank I got at vapebash 2013

"Mods" by it's loosest and most common definition is a device with a removable battery... that's it.

I went from 808 & 901 threaded "cig-a-likes" over the years to my first Vision Spinner over a month ago... something to get me off the smokes while I shopped for something better. A week later my Vamo V2 arrived and I have absolutely zero regrets... The best interface, battery flexibility (without buying extra extension tubes), durable, VV *and* VW, the cheapest in it's class, and a 5 amp switch, the strongest in a VV/VW device that I know of... A $40 Vamo helped me kick smoking for *good*.

Now I'm getting into mechanicals. I just got my first Sigelei #8 and before I had one tank of juice vaped with it I had already modded it three different ways. It hits like a speeding freight train and is built like a rock. Waiting for my #19 in the mail.

Many clearos, vivis and other tanks. Prefer dripping when I can, even over my genesis RBAs. That said one of my standard "go to" vapes is a $2 stardust clone from fasttech that I rewicked and recoiled (one of the easiest things to put a coil in, ever, is a vivi style head), notched the silicon coil cover, and widened the end of the air tube maybe a quarter millimeter... smooth, flavorful, and can fog an entire room in three or four big hits; a true thing of beauty ;)

Mod is short for modified you can't get anymore basic than that.

I know no one cares about my opinion and that is all that it is. It is a "pet peeve" of mine. Lol

Devices with removable batteries are "modified" because standard ecigs don't have them. It's a vaping term that has been around for a long time.

Yup. From back when there were battery mods, atomizer mods, and cartridge mods. That wasn't so long ago.

My first mods were the RoughStack and a 14500 box mod from Mad Vapes.

I understand what you mean. But as I understand it, and others pointed out, what is now mass produced used to be a mod at one point.

But when I ask about your first "mod" it can be anything really: a battery mod, vv, genesis type atty, something store bought, even a crazy coke can or lightsaber mod.

What ever you considered as your first mod is really what I'm looking for. However, sticking with your definition of a mod, is there still much diy modification going on? From what I can tell (still a noob, haven't been around vaping long) it's almost all mass produced. Other than box mods, I don't see a way the average man can tinker with his e-cig.

Heh, had a friend who quit, gave me a Volcano that I let sit for a long time. When I finally tried it, the batteries were so shot it was trying. Managed to stay off the cigs long enough to get a ProVari delivered....holy hell I have never tried to quit smoking with the hope of ever making it till now. I am over a week with no cigs and doing ok.

ProVari for life!
