Ok so this may be a long winded post but here goes, I've been vaping for about 4 months now. I'm beginning to experience a loss in flavor, I have tried just about everything. I have dual coil cartos - hate them. I have bottom feeder tanks - ok for flavor but diminishing quickly. I have an Aga-t rba - doesn't quite produce much vapor, decent flavor. Ive got a few dripping rba's - not much vapor, decent flavor. I have a Vivi Nova - decent vapor, not much flavor. I have an HH357 long barrel atty, decent flavor and vapor. I have been vaping right aroun 8.5 watts on my Vamo. All my coils, cartos, tanks, atty's etc are standard res (2.0-2.6) and I have tried just about every juice. My question is what wattage do people find best? I've read a few threads on mech mods with sub ohm coils pushing upwards of 19 watts... I tried my vamo at 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 watts on my RBA's, getting a bit better vapor production but the flavor is ZERO... I'm very confused and frustrated... To the point of buying some death sticks. PLEASE help me find a solution, wether it be a different wattage, a different carto, clearo, atty, RBA... anything! any input would be hugely appreciated.

You say the HH357 is giving decent vapor and flavor; if that is working for you, stick with it. I find the Kanger bottom-coil clearos work best for me. I prefer them over anything else I've tried. You don't have to use and be satisfied with all the different atties/cartos/clearos.

On the wattage issue, different types of juices are going to have different wattages at which they taste best. There isn't any one wattage where all juices on any device are going to taste best. My favorite DIY peppermint juice tastes best at ~6 watts with the bottom-coil clearos; anything over 6.5 watts ruins the taste.

For me nothing has beat the flavor of a good boge carto in a tank. I've tried all the clearo's and hate them all. Very little vapor and muted flavor. I've tried several genesis attys...little vapor, terrible flavor and too much trouble. I vape sweet fruity flavors so I have to use a low wattage, around 6 watts otherwise anything higher burns my juice.

I vape delicate flavors, like fruit, at 5.5-6 watts. I like tobaccos (even though I don't vape a lot tobacco flavors lately) and coffees a bit higher, 7-8, 8.5 watts tops. I like my menthols on any wattage, really. Halo menthols change flavor profile with added heat, but they always taste good to me.

Do you use the same eliquids all the time? Maybe that is your problem. I get tired even of my favorite juices and I often order sampler packages from popular juice vendors to change things up a bit. When nothing tastes right, I vape unflavored--that's my palate cleanser, if you will. To me, vaping is not like smoking used to be--the same brand year after year. The same goes for my hardware; I like different things; I love Boge cartos, Kanger BCCs (T3, eVod), T2; and I still use my eGo-C atomizers--just for the change of pace.

That said, if after 4 months you're still tempted to light up a cigarette, maybe it's not the taste or the wattage that's the problem; you may be missing the MAOIs that cigarette smoke provided. If that is the case, you may want to look into whole alkaloid tobacco products like Swedish snus, dissolvable tobacco (Ariva, Stonewall) or even WTA (whole tobacco alkaloid eliquid) before you reach for a cigarette.

There is a smokeless tobacco subforum here, if you have any questions:

Smokeless tobacco

Good luck.

I'm keyed on flavor, so an HH long barrel works pretty well for me. That's also why I'm a dripper.

I'll use an HH when I want an airy-er draw and an I06 when I want a tighter draw. (Not that an HH is airy for most folks, but it's at the edge of airy for me.) I've tried a seemingly endless array of cartomizers and clearomizers, but I haven't found one that works for me and I keep dripping.

As for Wattage, I hover between 10 to 12 Watts. Fruits tend to be on the lesser side while tobaccos tend to be on the greater side of that range. Fruits lose flavor if the Wattage is too high. Heck tobaccos lose flavor if the Wattage is too high. It took me quite awhile to find my power range that balances fullness of vapor, throat hit, and flavor, but for me the flavor HAD to be there or I'd rather be smoking. My trashcan has seen quite a few cartos and clearos when I couldn't get the flavor I needed out of them just before I screwed on a dripping atomizer. I found if I could get the flavor I needed I could take the time to find the throat hit and fullness without any stress other than feeling like I was sucking on the thing like a baby with a pacifier. If the flavor wasn't there I became frustrated very quickly.

Which part do you need the most? Flavor, or vapor production, or throat hit? Keep the one you need the most and adjust the rest.
