I started vaping about a month ago and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I started with 901 and a week later bought he 510. I've read that a lot of people really like the screwdriver. From what I can tell, the battery life seems to be the selling point. What about vapor production and taste? I like the 510 but having to charge batteries constantly is a hassle. I use a pass-through while at my computer and it works well. Any information will be appreciated.:confused:

My First p/v was the DSE901.
With the purchase of a USB passthrough I realized the flavor and amt of vapor was exactly what I wanted. The bats for portable use (considered using my laptop as a rather bulky battery pack/pass through;))
were worthless. In the car, outside - didn't matter - there was barely enough vapor to even tell I'd taken a drag and bats died within an hour or two.

The SD gives me the consistancy I needed to make a complete shift away from .... logs.
Bats last 7-8 hours - and every puff is a great one! At a couple bucks a piece I'll be $$$ ahead in another couple of weeks.

I like the shape ---- kinda sleek, kinda sexy with smooth contours that make it easy to hold.

AND I was able to use all my 901 attys (and still have those delightful 901 e/cig style bats for use if ever necessary) So glad I got my SD - the passthrough died after 4 weeks and .... logs just aren't an option anymore.

For me....
30 years of smoking....

TBH it really doesn't matter what mod you get baron, the only difference from one to the next is aesthetic*. They're all just battery packs with connectors on them. Get one that you think you'd like to hold and use often. I personally dislike the button placement on the SD immensely, but thats just me.

*Some mods run at slightly higher voltage if thats what you want, but for the most part you're going to run a single 3.7v li-ion battery in it.

Baron - my view, for what it is worth:

My take is basically that the "vaping experience" is a function of: choice of atomiser and juice (the main bits) and voltage (a matter of choice as that alters the experience of both the atomiser and the juice). The "consistency" of the vaping experience is about batteries.

So the "big battery device" is indeed a means of attaching a reliable power source at the voltage of choice to the atomiser of choice to vape the juice of choice... It is basically that and nothing more.

What affects choice of big battery device? Clearly aesthetics, ergonomics, price, reliability, service and in some cases, it appears, prejudice.

Lets look at a few of these in perspective:

Price - frankly, if you could afford to smoke, all of the big battery devices are affordable - I was spending 50 UKP a WEEK on cigarettes.

So, not price, but possibly "value for money"? This is much more subjective - for me, if I get something that does what I want at a price I can afford, and the device is reliable and I can get it fixed if it should break eventually, I've got VFM

Service - if something breaks - I have two choices - mend it myself or get it mended. I prefer to get it mended. I see no evidence that any of the big battery device vendors don't mend things. Quality of service? It's clear that most of the vendors a) actually provide pretty good service and b) have managed to p*** at least one or two people off (that's business for you)

Aesthetics? Eye of the beholder stuff - meh (as some say)

Ergonomics - if you like the way it works it's ergonomic, if you don't it isn't. I like "button on the end" a la SD and AdapteveR others don't.

As for whether something is made entirely from UK, US, Australian, Mongolian or Martian components of original conception, I don't give a monkey - if it works well (for me), and doesn't break, that's the job done.

I have both units.I think both are great, but the SD is lighter than the Adaptever. They both produce great vapor so I would recommend both.As for service I live in US and Trog has been great he fixed broken button quickly, but took 3 weeks to get back. Not bad takes 5 to 7 days mailing both ways. The adaptever is in US so service will be quicker it took 5 days to get once I ordered, but I got it before he had website.Go with what you like and can afford you won't be sorry
