Hi,

My wife and I started vaping about 4 months ago. We got an inexpensive starter kit with vision spinner, CE4 tank, and charger. We've already had to buy about 8 CE4/5 atomizers and have had problems with all of them. Only two work now. But then they only cost $3 at my our ecig shop. I know opinions differ, but which is the best tank to buy that will last for some time and that the coil can be easily replaced (cost around $10-12.)? I'm not interested in mods and giant tanks, not yet anyway :). Also, where can I get really reliable batteries at reasonable cost.

Thanks and happy vapin',
Randy Boulter

Get some miniprotank2 v2's.

Lots of youtube videos show how to rebuild the heads- its not a real rebuildable buy lots of people rebuild them - me too.

For the 'best' tank, it would probably be like a kayfun or russian; which are rebuildables; you don't buy replacement coil heads, you just get a roll or kanthal wire and use that to wrap your coil every few weeks or months, and use cotton for wicking.

For a battery, best bang for the buck in batteries is the MVP2. Shop around and get one for $40; it's a high capacity powerregulated passthrough battery; excellent for new vapers.

Is it my imagination, or does the replacement coil look an awful lot like the Kanger EVOD coils?

Nope not your imagination.

Same coil.
Quite a few tanks use the same coil.
Unfortunately there are some slight variations in dimensions and sometime the coil from one tank can fit in the other but not viceversa because of a small height difference.

I actually started with Vision Vivi Nova's. They were pretty much trouble free. Compared to the Protank, which I had both PT2 and PT3, the Protanks were more finicky for gurgling. Both the Vivi Nova's and Protanks do leak a bit of eliquid on the battery connection, but it doesn't harm anything.

From my experience with the protanks, since I started rewicking with cotton instead of reusing the existing silica wick, I don't get leak problems anymore; am pretty sure they'll leak if I kept the same cotton wick for a few days, but putting in some fresh cotton on a standby coil turned out to be so easy, it never happens.

Innokin iclear 30s. No leaking whatsoever! Dual coil that has a ton of wicks stuffed inside it. When I was first starting out, I used the Kanger Protanks.. I had so many issues with them leaking, and issues with taste. The first experience I had with the iclear 30s was with my Itazte vtr. It has turned out to be my favorite tank that I've used, and I have multiple rebuildable atomizers. If you're looking for something reliable that doesn't require much maintenance, the iclear 30s is the tank for you!

The tanks I've had the least struggles with are the E-lectron S by Totally Wicked and the Kanger Protank 3. In terms of ease of use I much prefer the E-lectron S. I've had it for about a month and haven't had to replace anything. The Kanger is a simpler build, and you can take apart every single piece but I've had problems with heads and coils and had to replace them more often than not with only vaping on them for a few days.

The fascinating iclear 30s is actually a topcoil, even though the coil 'cartridge' screws into the bottom of the tank and looks phenomenally like a carto in dimensions.

Bottom coil tanks tend to have a leaking issue because gravity naturally leads the liquid down to the wickholes at the bottom; you literally have holes at the bottom of the tank; you can compensate for that by keeping them upside down if you're too lazy like me to bother changing the coil; otoh you're less likely to get a dry hit.

Topcoil tanks don't tend to leak because they're usually upright anyway and the coil is above the liquid; but the get the opposite problem if chain vape and the coil dries out on you faster than the liquid can wick it's way upwards; you compensate for it by giveing the tank an occassional 'twirl' to wet the coil area.

After jumping in and buying every new, fancy, shiny thing to hit the vape market for a while, I had to reign it in and found myself with a box of stuff that was lacking in one way or another. I had a really hard time convincing myself to spend that much to get the Nautilus until this week when I gave in, found the best deal that I could on it, and went for it. Holy freakin CRAP!!! People, if you haven't gotten one of these bad boys, YOU MUST!! This thing holds a full 5ml, is extremely well built out of all stainless and pyrex and MAN does it hit nicely!!! It's with very good reason that it's getting such raving reviews from all the most subscribed reviewers as well as us "peons" here on ECF!! easily the closest in flavor and vapor production as I've found to cartos or even dripping and with ZERO hassle....5mls worth of nonstop WICKEDNESS!! With it's 4 position locking adjustable air hole ring....want a tight draw-no problem, little looser-one click, pretty loose-one more click and if you just wanna go hog-wild, open it up to the 4th and she'll practically blow your head off. Mouth to lung or wide open straight lung hits, this thing ROCKS!!! :vapor::headbang::rickroll:

I like my Kanger Mini Pro Tank 3, Aspire BDC, as well as the Aspire Nautilus...but the iClear 16 has been one of the most reliable and best go-to tanks when I'm in a hurry or busy in my shop. They cost a couple of bucks, have replacement coils, and are easy to use. They are also SO much better than the CE4 or the wickless CE5. I bought 15 of the CE5 on Ebay. As soon as I tried the iClear 16, they were tossed in the drawer.

My first tank was from Halo. It's the Triton starter kit, with a 2.4ml tank but says to fill it up to 2.0. I vape it until it's near the bottom and haven't had a problem with any burnt taste. I replace my coil once every 2 weeks or so. Rinsing the coil and letting it dry has saved me some money, but the coils aren't that expensive.

My Halo Triton tanks (CE4s?) are definitely reliable and small enough for on-the-go use. I have been using them a TON with only rinsing and dry burning about every other fill ~2ml. Have yet to need to use one of the replacement coils that I got for them and have been using them for over a month

I have tried a whole bunch. Here is my opinion.

In order of favourites.

Kayfun 3.1 and CE4
Aspire Nautilus
Innokin iClear X.1 and Kanger Protank 3 Mini
Innokin iClear 30S
Anyvape Davide
Kanger Mini Protank 2

My first were the CE4's. I bought a few more CE4's, they are very different than the first ones. So they are not all created equal. I wouldn't give up on CE4's just yet. They are so cheap and convenient and mine work very well. I have been vaping for close to two months and have yet to crack a tank or burn out a coil. They kayfun is just great. I didn't think they could be better than the Nautilus but the Kayfun is without a doubt my favourite.

I should point out that they are all pretty good. The exception is the Protank 2, I have two. One corroded. Both leak and gurgle. And they are both a nuisance to fill. The Protank 3 is a great improvement. Other than the Kayfun and the CE4, they are all somewhat of a nuisance to fill.

For on the go I highly recommend the Aspire CE5 BDC Clearomizer, it can be bought for as low as $3.95 and
you can get a 5pk of replacement dual coil heads for $8.25
At home I use these or my Aspire Nautilus Glassomizer, I can not rave enough about these tanks.
All of my Kanger stuff has gurgled and leaked.
