I was thinking about buying my son the MVP but I have seen some threads where they died after a short time. It's a good thing I can't make up my mind. It saves me some money
The MVP 2.0 is a great PV. Mine has seen around 5 months of heavy use (enough daily vaping where a full charge only lasts 3/4 of the day).
And most of the older original MVP's out there are still going strong.
You will always hear a few stories of any device breaking, regardless of how well it was built. Companies with the highest levels of QA control still put out a lemon every now and then. Generally, you only hear of MVP's breaking on forums such as these. It is very rare for someone to post a new thread saying "My MVP is 18 months old and still running great!". People post a thread when they get a new device, then over the next few months, they might post some threads with questions or suggestions about the device. Then you won't hear a thing about it until it dies.
So don't think that a few reports of a certain device breaking means that it is an inferior product. For every MVP that dies after a relatively short time, I'm sure that many hundreds of others continue to work well.
